  1. How bad are inside rooms? We went on our first cruise last year and had a balcony. We may be going again this year but want to save some money and are thinking of booking an inside room. Not sure if I would be able to handle not having sunlight in my room.

  2. The cruiseline insurance I have checked into does not have adequate medical or medical evacuation coverage.

I have found much better coverage at a lower price buying from a third party.

We have sailed for years....always buy trip insurance....but never from the cruiseline.

Where do you buy your cruise insurance?

  3. In Port Everglades and Port Canaveral we usually show up around 9:30 with FTTF and are on the ship by 10:30. At least that's been my experience within the past 2-3 years.

Thanks for that info. We are leaving out of Port Canaveral. :)

  4. No, sorry if my answer was misleading about the gift card refund for a credit balance. If you use the casino method to cash out your credit balance, the casino will give you cash not a gift card. You will get a gift card in the mail post-cruise if you have a credit balance on your account that was the result of applying gift cards as OBC and do NOT cash out in the casino prior to the end of the cruise. As to the Cruise Cash, that is non-refundable so you either spend it on board, cash it out in the casino or forfeit it.

ok that is very helpful info. Thanks for clearing that up for me. :)

  5. So if you have $50 left on your sail and sign card you can go to the casino and cash it out (they will give you a gift card)...am I reading that right??? I want to use aarp gift cards to buy cruise cash bar cards (then I put those cards on our sail and sign cards, correct).

  6. I saved this document from this board years ago and have found it very helpful.

Go with an open mind and be nice to everyone. They will be nice to you. If you're a drinker, tip your bartender an extra dollar here and there! The service will be amazing

Thank you so much for that document. very helpful information in it.

  7. Typically the two best ways to get some from and cheese and room service or the buffet. I have many times filled a plate at the buffet to take to our cabin. Just be sure to bring something to cover the plate of food as you transport it. You don't want someone in the elevator sneezing all over it.

Ok thanks for that suggestion :)

  8. I take a few clothes pins and those large ones that you can use to keep your towel from blowing off the loungers. You can use the clothes pins for the shower curtain, drapes to keep out the light and to clip a few things on the back of a chair on the balcony to get them to dry quicker. I get both kind at the dollar store along with every size of zip lock baggies. I use zip locks of various sizes undies go in one, swimsuits and cover ups in another. Shoes in the 3-gal size to keep them from touching the clothes. Got the zip lock tip YEARS ago here on cruise critic and it has proven invaluable. I even take a few extras and I can take some crackers in a sandwich size, then some fruit and cheese on a plate that will slide right inside a gallon size one. Late at night, it's great to have cheese, fruit and crackers on our balcony with a glass of wine.

ok Newbie question here: Do you get the fruit and cheese from the dining room or can you order fruit and cheese from room service? Can we take food from the dining room to our cabin?
