I had the same question and issue.  And the same reply to my question.  I called and spoke with a very helpful representative.  Because I booked through a travel agent, I cannot add shore excursions or make changes myself online.  Frustrating.  But she said you could buy them advance over the phone.

We are planning to rent a car in Barbados on Jan. 22. Drive-a-Matic will bring a car and let you drop it off just outside the cruise terminal arrival area. Courtesy also rents cars at the terminal, but doesn't specify where or how it works. Anyone have any recent experience with either? Thanks.

Hi all! Has anyone ever done the Treasure Chest Island Snorkel Shore Excursion that Holland America offers from Half Moon Cay? Your experiences? Worth it? Sounds very good from the description.

Are there any good car rental agencies at or very near the cruise terminal on St. Martin? Anyone have any recent experiences?
