  1. I've sailed with Celebrity a number of times and it can vary. I was on the Reflection this last January and I did find a number of stuffy guests who thought of themselves to be above others. This being said, i'm in my late 20's and may have been treated differently as I do not fit with Celebrities main demographic.

  2. Apparently what I've heard is that they did some work on the azapods, and bow thrusters in terms of mechanical stuff. They painted the hull under the water line, cabin doors have been retrofitted to be unlocked with tapping the key card rather than the old insert style, carpeting and some furniture has been replaced in common areas, a large television screen has been mounted in the lawn club across from the lawn club grill, and the cabanas have had some minor modifications. I board on Monday so if I hear anything else i'll post.

  3. I've been reading this thread for a few days now at work trying to keep my laughter down.

One of the most funny stories I can recall is back in 2008 when my parents brought my sister and I on the Carnival Liberty. It was the last formal night and we had just finished our dinner and were on our way to watch the evening show. My sister was wearing thin healed high healed shoes and as we were exiting the dinning room she managed to walk right into the to little lock for the glass doors in the floor. She quickly realized that her heal was very stuck and was laughing so hard that all she could do was stand there until the Maitre D'came running to her assistance with a butter knife. It took him 5 minutes to pry her from the floor.

  4. Now I know that the new Edge's hull is being painted blue like celebrity used in the 1990's and 2000's. What are the chances that they will paint the hull of the Reflection blue while its in dry dock? I've noticed that they are painting everything under the waterline black instead of blue so who knows..

  5. Sailing on Rhapsody on Sat and wondering if there is anyone on here who has sailed on her recently.... wondering if they offered a deal on drinks package on embarkation.... not sure whether to book online before we go or wait until we board.

We were on board last February and they were offering a percentage off an upgraded drinks package as we were embarking. They had a display set up with information by the elevators right by the entrance.

  6. I am sure that whomever replaces them will be equally professional and will manage not to run the ship aground. That is all that matters to me. I know that many will disagree w me but this captain worship cult seems to me to be very silly. I and I am sure most of us couldn't even tell you who the captain was on our last cruise, much less our last previous cruises.

    DON

That may be your opinion but people enjoy cruising for different reasons. I personally like getting to know the captains. Makes the experience just that much more fun.

  7. Yes I did and guess what, they all grew up to be successful adults with great jobs! Well technically one is still in school studying to be a doctor. But still call that a success. So you can be an uptight do-gooder if you wish but please keep your opinions of other peoples parenting techniques to yourself. Not all of the world is so uptight about having a glass of wine with dinner.

I completely agree with you. My parents let me sip wine and beer when i was a teenager. If anything, it just made me drink less as a young adult because the novelty was not there and I did not see the need to overindulge.

  8. You are so right, and I sincerely wish this had happened. It is absolutely wrong under any circumstances to allow an alcoholic drink to be served to anyone underage. There are no circumstance under which this is an acceptable thing to do. If it were I in change, anyone caught doing so would be let off at the next port.

Just different laws for different countries. In some provinces of Canada its perfectly legal for an 18 year old to drink. As long as the individual uses discretion and is responsible, there shouldn't be a problem.

  9. We had that same issue. We went with one of our friends who was 19 which is legal here in Canada but was not eligible to have a drink package while on board. What we did was just order a drink that she was interested ourselves and when the bartender left, we would simply give her the drink.

  10. My second cruise was on the Celebrity Mercury when i was 12 years old (28 now) and I loved it. Even at that age I could tell that the service and food was better than other cruise lines I had been on prior. I never found myself bored as I was always content to quietly explore the ship, try new foods, partake in the various events on-board, etc. The only thing I ever had an issue with was the odd passenger who clearly felt that a youth should not be on celebrity and would make their point known.

  11. Salty snacks are available, but you will need to ask for them. The only time I remember potato chips was when Celebrity briefly tried the to use the Michael's Clubs as a craft beer venue; it was a short lived experiment. But peanut mixes or pretzel/cracker/wasabi pea mixes are available when you ask.

I preferred those days. My father and I spent hours when it was dedicated to craft beer. I wouldn't find the point of it now.
