  1. Good morning!

We are considering the Prima Haven.  Traveling with 3 adults in our party, we are going back and forth between H6 - 2 Bedroom or H5 Owners Suite.  Our observations:

    1. 2 Bedroom has a true 2nd bedroom, but the living space seems condensed.  No desk, no makeup mirror, no bathtub

    2. The Owners' Suite is more spacious, of course a sofa bed in lieu of a bed and no 2nd bathroom

         a.  some of the H5's 12320,12322 & same on starboard side, seem to have 2 entrances to bathroom and overall a better layout

         b.  the outside deck area may be smaller

If anyone has input that might be helpful in helping us make this decision, PLEASE comment.

    Thank you

  2. It has been many years since we sailed NCL...  We have been loyal to Celebrity Retreat for many years now.  But, as many note, the pricing on Celebrity is getting harder and harder to justify!

So, we are booking a Haven suite on the Joy.  We currently are booked in a category HB: Haven Aft-Facing Penthouse with Large Balcony.   We are questioning that since this suite is quite a hike from the Haven amenities... restaurant, lounge, concierge, pool deck etc...  Will we miss not being in the middle of the action?

If anyone would be willing to share the pros/cons of their experiences, we would appreciate it.

  3. We have been cruising a couple times each year with our adult disabled daughter for many, many years.  Celebrity has ALWAYS gone out of their way to accomodate her/us!  From  attempting to removing strobe lights during shows & dance parties to an inside cabin without a tub for her to shower in... and all sorts of other things! She is high functioning and is very visible, getting involved with many of the activities on board. Everybody knows her!!  The staff, officers & crew are sensitive and caring... ALWAYS!!

  4. Wow, when I initially asked my question, I had no idea there would be this much input!!!  Thanks to all for your valuable comments.  So, I do have a specific question, that may have been answered here, but I don't recall...  In the penthouse, can we have pressing done on items that did not fare well in the suitcases?  Is there a charge?

I’m on this sailing, we just boarded so we haven’t experienced much of the dining service yet.  I wanted to report I’m in an aft deck 11 AQ and AC has been working great.  The ship and the stateroom are better condition than I thought.  Some finishes may be outdated but generally things are clean with minimal signs of wear.  I’ll happily share thoughts if my opinion changes throughout the sailing.  About to sail away!

Good to know!  We will be aft on 11 too!!  Have a great cruise!!

  7. After many cruises on our favorite ship, the Summit, we are on our first cruise on the Silhouette.  Lucky to be in a lovely Suite for the Xmas/New Year cruise.  The ship is beautiful.  The Retreat staff and absolutely all of the staff we have had the pleasure to meet are wonderful.  But, day 5 is drawing to a close, and we have yet to be welcomed on board by the Captain or ANY of the Executive Officers!  When we pass one of them walking around, there is no attempt to be friendly, not even initiating a “hello “. Not even a nod, wave or any recognition of the passengers at any of the evening theater shows… because they are not in attendance.  Having been on the Summit a couple of weeks ago and back in October, it is not my imagination that the officers made us feel important.  There have been no “sail aways” from the helipad, roses for the ladies on chic night, no events in the retreat lounge. No communications from art auctions, Effy sales, or  Captains Club left in our cabin. Shame on the Silhouette upper management/Officers for being so removed from their passengers, leaving the thank you for being on board to their employees!

  8. We have a holiday cruise scheduled, and have learned that CVS is no longer taking advanced appointments for the rapid test, same day only.  Our local Walgreens do not do the rapid test at all.  If we are unable to get a rapid test appointment , is there an option to take the test at the terminal upon boarding the ship?

  9. I continue to see all of the posts relating to canceling. I get it.  The world is in a state of panic right now.

Can we cancel? Should we cancel? What if we cancel? When will Celebrity cancel?

Really fellow travelers, stay away if you are sick or have been exposed!  I understand if your health is fragile or you truly feel the need to cancel for whatever reason.  Do what you must do.

But, I really want to go on our upcoming cruise and want to know who else has no intention of canceling unless we fall ill or are exposed!   I do NOT want Celebrity to cancel our cruise!

    Am I alone?

Can we use this new topic for POSITIVE posts!!  Let’s reflect on the fact, as far as I know, that Celebrity has no reported cases of Coronavirus. (knock on wood)  That Celebrity has taken extraordinary efforts to keep their ships cleaner than ever. That Celebrity has been extremely generous in revising their cancellation policy! I plan on remaining upbeat and, although my trip is not until April 20th, I have started thinking about what I am going to pack!

  10. This will be our first cruise from Hawaii on Celebrity Eclipse.   We are very comfortable with getting off the ship and finding local tour guides in the Caribbean.  Is it best to plan ahead on the Hawaiian ports of call, or will we find locals as we get to the islands?  Any recommendations of locals you have used

     will be appreciated!!

  11. Ship:  Summit, December 2019

    Revolution (2019 onwards) - Yes

    Cabin: 6142

    Deck: # 6

    Class: Royal Suite

    Area/Location:  Aft- Starboard

Bed Location / View: Perfect from every location in/outside this suite

    Quiet? Yes

    Balcony/Porthole View: Excellent

Balcony/Porthole Size: Oversized - no table/chairs...lots of silly small wooden(logs)

    Wind a Problem? No

    Soot a Problem?  No

    Comments:

    Fabulous Suite!     A few negatives:

No electrical outlets or USB ports  bedside or next to sofa in LR

Hot Tub on balcony was awful!!  Water barely dripped in.  Took 30+ minutes to fill, so plan  ahead

No drawers at all for clothing. 1 small one on each nightstand in BR & 1 on each desk

Silly decorations throughout!!  Including overhead wall unit in LR that looks like cubicles that should open, but they don’t.

Important if traveling with a 3rd guest:  the only storage for clothing in LR are tiny cubicles under the TV wall that are impossible to access when standing or bending over by average size adults.

  12. We were on the Millie in June 2019.  We had done the 4 day land tour from Anchorage to Seward prior to boarding. The land tours are subcontracted by Celebrity. Our guide was very nice, but very new, and when comparing notes with others on with different guides, we missed out on a lot of information.  Absolutely NO information about the hotels, tours, daily activities are available ahead of time.  You select your tours when you arrive at the initial meeting point, our was the Marriott in Anchorage for the first day. Each day is booked the day before.  The train from Anchorage to Denali was all day, but a wonderful experience. The independent tour (booked through Celebrity) in the National Park was a tour of a lifetime!  That being said, the remaining tours were good to not so good.  Part of this was the "fault" of an inexperienced guide who was unable to give us reliable information, often times wrong information.  I would agree with the other posters, rent a car and create your own tour...  You can gauge your own time at the stops you select and can pull over to the side of the road when you see something you want to see (ie: bear in the wild roaming on the side of the road).  The tours we took once on board the ship were ALL wonderful!!

  13. So, I understand that for our December cruise, Le Petit Chef will be in place on the Summit.  Although we never got good at ordering in Qsine (we simply ordered too much food, so many choices), we always had fun & enjoyed our meal.  As for the LPC experience,  we are looking forward to giving it a try... BUT, I am concerned that the lack of menu options will  keep the picky eaters in our family from enjoying the dinner.  Am I correct that there is the only the Le Petit Chef Menu and the "Other" menu...and that is it?   So, on the Summit, it will be Tuscan Grill, Sushi on 5 (we don't eat sushi) or LPC, and I am not sure we will all enjoy the menu choices.  I understand that the "show" is part of the experience, but food choices are important!

  14. We have been on both sides of this scenario in Luminae.   When with a group of family/friends traveling together, it is easy for the volume of our conversations to become intrusive without intent.  Having also been on cruises with just my husband, we have endured the lively party atmosphere of groups.  Sometimes just catching the eye of one member of the large group and nicely gesturing “shhh“or “keep it down” with your hand, will remind them that their voices were traveling.  It is always possible to be moved to a different location, but Luminae on “M” class don’t offer a lot of places to get away.  On the Silhouette, there were 2 somewhat separate rooms.  The maitre d’ should be able to advise you as to when the large group is scheduled to dine, in which case you can try to arrive either before or after.  In any case, go and enjoy your vacation!  Perhaps you can strike up a friendly conversation with others traveling solo or couples.
