I have to finalize ($$$) my cruise sometime in July or lose my deposit. Does anyone know if RCI will be back up by then? I'm wondering if we should just cancel our plans and eat the deposit rather than taking the chance of losing everything.

We do have a suite and just purchased our drink packages. We are seasoned professionals and enjoy cruising. We're looking forward to the trip and most likely the Coronavirus scare will be over by then.

This a multi-question post so hope it's not too complicated. My wife and I have only cruised Princess several times and one Carnival (Mexican Riviera cruise). First off we're spoiled to death now by having a suite on our Panama Canal trip last year. Like flying first class on an airline. It's tough to go back to coach. I figure it this way..... if you've got it. DO IT!!! People that want to scrimp and save, have at it. But live large if you can. It's fun. So for the first question: does anyone know if the same perks exist for suites on Royal Caribbean as Princess? i.e my wife is not clear on complementary laundry service. We had that on our Panama Canal cruise and didn't think we would even use it but we did and it was AWESOME!!! Our second concern (not really a concern but being prepared) the size of the ship: This is a mega ship, right? Much larger and likely more activity and longer lines for things? Any tips or suggestions to deal with that kind of thing? We are booked on Liberty because we're joining my son and his family to celebrate my granddaughters college graduation. We just want to get the vibe and any words of wisdom that may be out there. We're leaving from Galveston and have no clue on where to stay (or not stay) the night before. Anything ya'all got.... bring it. We would love to hear from you.
We leave October 2020
Thank You

The wife and I use those little springy bracelets with a hook on them. Wear it on your wrist or you can slip it up to your elbow to look really cool.. Have the card punched at hospitality. Kinda trendy if you ask me. And hooks on your bag or backpack pretty easily too. Lanyard are too long to do that. Can order on Amazon in different colors for super cheap.
You've just graduated from the Geek Squad.
Aloha!!!

Thanks for the informative answers and sarcasm (not). Makes me feel at home. Doesn't bother me at all to wear pants. Was just wondering...... I'll keep my lame questions to myself next time ;-)

Been a while since our last cruise (Grand Princess Caribbean 2008). We're headed out next week on the Coral Princess and I can't recall the dress code in the MDR on "dress casual" regular nights. Can guys get away with nice shorts and a button up shirt with some decent deck shoes?
We lived in Hawaii for five years and you could dress like that almost anywhere so I've gotten spoiled with that look.

BTW - most sea sickness meds have Meclizine in them. It's the other stuff that makes them drowsy..... Bonine and Dramamine. Never liked them. Straight Meclizine doesn't do that. The wife couldn't find it at Longs anymore. I ordered some on Amazon.
Drink ginger ale and eat raw ginger. It works GREAT too.

We live in Temecula. Was in Hawaii for 5 years. Originally from San Diego.

Is there any advantage to prepaying for internet access? Or can I just take care of it onboard at the same price?
-
That's what I think I'll tell them.
FYI - Meclazine was recommended to me a long time ago from a good friend that is an avid deep sea fisherman. Take it the night before you even get on the ship and then follow with the regimented dosage. I've done that myself when going on rough fishing boat trips. Works like a charm. No drowzyness either. Straight Meclazine. No substitutes.

That's the whole reason I picked North to South originally (for my friends).
I was on a LA to Puerto Vallarta Mexican Riviera cruise back in the day and on our way back it was STORMY. The entire ship was empty the last night coming back from Cabo. Me and my buddy were the only two out at the bars...... everyone in they're cabins.
"Drinking rum before noon doesn't make you an alcoholic, it's make you a PIRATE!!!!!! rrrrrrrrrrr

Anyone know the typical seas from LA down to Panama Canal. How bumpy is it? I have no problem but going with friends that might have a problem if we're moving around a lot.
My motto is to stay as intoxicated as I can and you never know...... HAHA (kidding). I've got good sea legs.
We sail out Feb 4th
Just wondering for them.

We have an upcoming Panama Canal Cruise and are in a suite. Our very best friends will be on the cruise with us but are only in a mini suite. Will they allow them to be seated with us in the dining room?
-
Much thanks to everyone for the advice. We'll get there at 10:00am and hopefully by noon I'll be having my first cocktail poolside...... waiting for 3:30pm kickoff. If we must muster so be it. I'll put spike strips on my lounge chair.
-
Muster drill doesn't bother me near as much as people hogging all the lounge chairs with a towel marker and then not coming back for an hour (or longer). I heard about them possibly delaying the muster drill....... that would be AWESOME!!!!! More game time, more beer and more food.

-
Game time this year is 3:30pmPST.
30min before sail and 2nd quarter will be during muster drill......... Poopy. That's why we need to get there early and setup somewhere solid for 2nd half.

Does anyone know the earliest you can board Princess in San Pedro? Our boarding time is 1:30pm but we have a suite. Does that mean we can go any time? We are leaving on Super Bowl Sunday and I want to be able to post up on the deck by the pool to eat, drink and enjoy the big screen. I'm in fear of showing up and finding every lounge chair taken. Don't want to end up in the theatre or my cabin watching.
-
We're headed for the Panama Canal on Super Bowl Sunday 2018. I'm sure there will be some type of hoopla and the game will be up on the MUTS screen. Just not sure how early we can board to get a seat within site of the screen. Of course I want front row.
We have a suite but our boarding time isn't until 1:30 (yuck)!!! By then we'll likely be watching in our cabin cause every seat will be taken bow to stern.
What to do??? What to expect???

I'm not afraid of traveling under COVID restrictions. We sailed the Panama Canal during flu season and actually had an outbreak on the ship (Princess). They handled it extremely well and we came back unscathed. Never went to the buffet, only used our cabin restroom and paid attention when out. If RCL sails...... we'll go. Not real sure about the comment that RCL will never cruise again. WOW!!!! Heavy.
We were looking forward to this as a celebration for our granddaughters graduation from nursing school. Bunch of family going. Probably know a lot more by July and make a decision then. We were just looking for any possible insight.
Thanks, BL
