We did the Elbe with Viking in 2016. Hilton was the hotel used in Berlin, and I think we booked one additional night with Viking. 

Did you book the Pulpit Rock cruise ahead of time? Hoping to do the cruise only if weather cooperates so would prefer to wait until we dock.

What would you advise?

We did book with Norled ahead of time, and did not have to pay until we got there. There was a good crowd on board but I think you probably could’ve walked up and gotten tickets. The boat left at 12:15 pm, and I’d advise getting there by 11:45 to ensure a spot.

We just returned from the Viking Sun, and used Alla in St. Petersburg for the two day tour. Easy to book, easy to find after you pass through immigration, and the guide was excellent. Group size was just 10 people. The group size for the various Viking excursions was 20-30 people. Alla arranged for Visas...just have to provide them with names and passport information in advance.

I’ll be able to choose shore excursions in a few weeks, and am wondering how to ensure six passengers get on same excursion. Can I buy for all at once? Will I need booking numbers and other info other than their names?
