You also get twice a day cabin service in a JS and the "standard" gratuities are at the lower rate rather than the "suite" rate.

We did 21 nights in a JS on Anthem last year and it was the first time in a JS for many years.

Very impressed with the 1+1/2 bathroom layout, which we found very convenient. on older ships it is just the single bathroom with a large walk-in (sort of) closet.

The bed was hard and a noticeable downgrade from the full suite bedding, but the stewards placed a "topper" on the mattress which improved the comfort considerably.

The only other criticism was the sofa. It was also very "firm" and likely to break your hip should you be lulled into thinking otherwise.

We found the CK crew wonderful and had no trouble securing a table for dinner every evening.

How did you go about getting reservations at CK, i heard JS only gets them if there is room left over, Did you have a problem with that?

Pizza is on par with Sorrentos. I liked it, they have a couple unique options like a BBQ chicken one and a seafood one.

Ocean is ice cold. It was so funny watching people walk into it and freak out and scream when they saw how cold it was. Regardless though, some people did go all the way into the cold water to swim a bit.

Hahah I will stick with the heated pool then.. Appreciate the response

  3. I booked an 8 day anthem of the seas cruise from nyc in feb of 2024. It is an 8 night cruise. I previously did an 8 day on anthem but we stopped in Miami this time it just seems they added an extra sea day. My original thought  was that it takes longer for them to reach Florida in the winter d/t ocean currents or something but i saw there are 7 day sailings later in the month.  So my question which is purely a curiosity based one is why is this one an 8 night but with no extra port of call, it is scheduling/ logistic thing where they just needed the Bayonne port open or is there a higher appeal for an 8 night cruise vs a 7. Truthfully i loved Miami and wished we were stopping there again but i cant complain too much escaping the nyc winter is great no matter where you are going..

  4. last night I was browsing my cruise to see if there are any price drops which there were which was surprising to me because we are less than two months till we sail. anyway i wanted to go from a club balcony suite to a penthouse suite, i called my TA and she tried doing but said NCl physically couldn't place me in that room because it was so much cheaper than what i originally paid for my club balcony suite. I was so confused, i was not even looking for the money back, i simply would have been happy with the upgrade. So unless i got the story wrong it was either stay in the room i am in now or pay extra to upgrade to a haven class room. Very confusing and doesn't make sense to me, any insight from people with situations like that

Your cruise departed on Easter Sunday, a tough staffing day for any business.  Hopefully, it's a blip, not a trend...

i hope you are right, i sail with RCL in october and i was blown away by the time it took for me to arrive and then be on the ship. it was so quick

Whenever they say 'due to a redeployment of ships....' it gets interesting.  This could change a number of already booked cruises.

Interesting that these are both for 2022.

Debating whether to rebook now or give it a couple months

  7. Today i received a rather vague email from my TA that due to a redeployment of ships my NYC 2022 cruise has been cancelled, has this happened to anyone else sailing the joy in 2022.  Does anyone know what ship will be replacing it? , my TA computer still showed it was the joy

Nevermind it looks like they just canceled for last august only running it in july

  8. I need something to look forward to lol booked a Nyc to Bermuda cruise for 2022 in august with my TA. I have around 4600 in future cruise credit to use but was told on the phone that the 4600 has to go towards the price of the room and nothing else. Is that accurate? i figured any left over money could be used as on onboard credit so i was shocked to hear this and unfortunately the most expensive room I could get without paying extra was 4200, so now I just have 400 floating around. Has this been FCC rule always been like that? thank you for help guys

They have all shot up since NCL told the world what their spend per month is.  Look at their explanation to the market article released yesterday.  It shows that they can go at least a full year without cruising, which is positive news, and shows they wont go bankrupt.  Based on this, the stocks all rebounded because when we DO get back to cruising, NCLH and CCL are 60 dollar stocks, and RCL is a 120-130 dollar stock.

glad to hear that bc as someone who will probably get an FCC bankruptcy would be a pretty terrible outcome for a lot of people on this board

  10. It must be the corona virus slashing the market but just upgraded my inside stateroom to a balcony for encore  from NYC in august through my TA for only 300 extra bucks, they wanted over a 1000 for that upgrade back in October.  Wanted to give everyone the heads up that maybe you should contact your TA if you are interested in doing something similar and see if you can grab an offer similar
