  1. I just got a bottle of tequila (husband), water, diet coke and we will bring a 12 pk mt.dew (husband) and 2 bottles of wine (me)!I

I was going to "smuggle" tequila in a rum runner, but didn't want to chance it getting caught and having to pay high cost for individual drinks

    WOOHOO 45 days!

I smuggle my liquor every time and its never been found. Pack in the very middle of your suitcase. We stick it in the pantleg of a pair of jeans.

  2. It may not make sense, but that is what my DW may want to do if it’s possible...so once again, the question is can you do this in NOLA

You can, but I wouldn't suggest it. You aren't really close enough to much to make it worth it. I would only say doing it if you have the earliest check in time and you have FTTF because you will be able to access your room right away rather than waiting til 1:30. Because the ship leaves at 4, by the time you stash your stuff and get off you would just be turning around and getting right back on anyway. I think you have to be back on by 3 because you have to be present for Muster drill before the ship sails away at 4. And the closest part of the city for touristy stuff is a bit of a walk.

  3. When do they take the picture for your card, if you don't go to the check in desk?

You probably will still have to go to the check in desk if you are a first time cruiser with Carnival. When we went on our cruise this year, they used my picture from the previous cruise. I didn't even have to retake it, but hubby grew a beard, so he had to retake his because he looked different.

So if you are already in the system, they might just shuffle you right through

  4. OP! If you are traveling on Carnival this is my experience because I worried about the same thing when I was a first time cruiser:

I am Cash Cruiser. I have a credit card that I have for emergencies, but I do not use it when setting up onboard account. I buy Cruise Cash prior to the trip on Carnival's website bc I like to pad the onboard account in advance. I also bring cash to embarkation. You are not required to put a specific amount down when you check in. They merely give you an amount as a suggestion. I would highly recommend utilizing the Cruise Cash option on the website to save yourself from carrying cash day of embark. I think the smallest amount they let you purchase is $25, but it is still a great way to save money for your onboard account without the worry of putting in a card and overdrafting your account

(Personally I never use a card because I read on the website that depending on the length of time you cruise, they put a hold on your account that can possibly stay on there until a week or so after your cruise has ended. I don't have a ton of money typically and live on a budget so I travel on a budget as well. I'd rather not take a chance of not having my money available when I need it...hence the cash option).

Hope that helps ease your mind a bit. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do

  5. Ship - Dream

    Deck - Upper (6)

    Stateroom # - 6226

    Stateroom Category – 1A - Interior Upper/Lower

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – NOOOOOO. Anytime ANYTHING is going on in the Encore Theater (which was directly below) it was LOUD. Also, there must be some storage space or a galley or something on the back side of our room, because something was constantly banging on the walls every time the ship hit a wave.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – N/A

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - N/A

    Was wind a problem? -N/A

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Apart from the noise, no.

Any other comments?- If you have been in an Upper/Lower you already know that they are very small, but this was one that goes longways side to side instead of deep into the room. The space between the bed and the counter was smaller than the other type of U/L room. We DID have a chair, but there wasn't a lot of room to manipulate and sit.

  6. We'll be on the Dream Feb 11th. Thanks for your review. Haven't been on the Dream since the upgrade, and from looking at the deck plan, I don't see a sports bar at all. We're big fans of our NCAA basketball team and were hoping to catch a couple of games. No sports bar on the Dream???

I don't recall a sports bar prior to the upgrade. I DO recall sports being shown at the bar in the casino though. So maybe use that as an option if all else fails

  7. We used a stick on port hole, and brought it for the whole family 4 rooms in total. It was fun and easy. Makes finding your room after a few frog island ice teas a little easier....

So....i didnt have any drinks on my last cruise apart from the complimentary vodka cran in the casino...so whatever that frog island ice tea is...im gonna have to try it :)

Well...sounds like I am going to decorate my door then. Time to go browse ideas. 😘

  8. Ship - Dream

    Deck - Main

    Stateroom # - 2348

    Stateroom Category – Interior (Upper/Lower)

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes for the most part. There was some machine noise at times I think due to the elevators being near but it wasn't that bad.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – N/A

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - N/A

    Was wind a problem? - N/A

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Nope

Any other comments? - This was midship and right by the elevators. It was always quiet and very cozy for 2 people

  9. Lovely. We are booked to do a Beginners Scuba while in port and I am really looking forward to it, but have been concerned a lot with all the warnings about traveling to Mexico. Last year was fine and we were comfortable with our surroundings while we were there, so I am looking forward to returning :)

  10. I've seen the Disney ones! They are pretty impressive! I saw somewhere on Etsy when I was looking at all the sellers who make those decorations, that Carnival's requirements for door deco is that it is flame retardant. I don't know how much truth there is to that or what, but thought I would share that. On our cruise last year, I didn't see any door decorations except for one. I think it would be fun to do if more people got into it like they do on disney. Also wish we could piggy back off the fish extenders that they do as well. It's sort of like a secret santa type of thing from other travelers on the cruise. First time I saw people did that I was like....DANGIT! I wish people would do that on Carnival! LOL (I cant afford Disney Cruises...yipes they are expensive).

  11. YAY! Love seeing reviews of the Dream. I'll be aboard on the 18th of Feb. I hear they have made some improvements to the ship since we were last on it in Jan '17 so I am excited to come back. I've talked to a few people who seem concerned about getting off the ship in Cozumel due to all the warnings about crime and all. Did you feel pretty safe while you were there recently? We have an excursion through Carnival booked that morning, so I am hoping that all goes well as it did last year when we were there.

Thanks for your review! I can't wait to provide my own in a little over a month :)

  12. Sounds just like Mahogany Bay. on Roatan We considered it our worse excursion ever. Not only was it wall to wall chairs and clamshells, but the chairs were so broken down it was impossible to sit in it comfortably. Also, the floats we rented smelled so bad from B O that there was no way we were going to use them. We stood in line longer to return everything than we spent on the beach!

I didn't pay for the beach chairs, but I totally agree with you on this one...plenty of places to sit in a chair but they were all so abused and rotting away...im surprised that we were able to sit in them. And while we found a lovely spot under a tree, we had absolutely no view due to rows and rows of clamshells. I'm glad I had already enjoyed the view from doing our own snorkeling at the end of the dock.
