  1. Hi there!

We are currently sailing in the Escape and have booked a Lagoon Villa for Friday in Great Stirrup Cay. Those of you who have stayed in the villas previously, were there any amenities available such as fishing and snorkeling? My husband is very interested in doing both of these things, but I can’t seem to get a straight answer on board.

Any input you may have (ocean vs lagoon, worth it vs not worth it) is welcome!

  2. Congradulation.

I'm still no new from mon bid 9/30 and 10/7 gateway... I bid minimun to inside-oceanview and inside to balcony 5 day left !!

Keep your eyes peeled! We are also booked on the Getaway for 10/7 with 2 other couples. One couple was just upgraded from ocean view yesterday. We bid for upgrades from the balcony to a few different options. Still no word yet for us.

  3. You will receive an email if there is something wrong with your form of payment, at least that’s what happened with me. The email said something along the line that there was an error processing the payment and gave me a link to update.

Thank you for the info! Like I said, I was just curious. We've never sailed with NCL before, so we didn't know that had we been offered the upgrade with the wrong card, would the offer have been rescinded. Curiosity quelled. lol

  4. By chance are you at a higher Latitudes level than the group who booked/bid the same as you and got rejected? I've read that NCL also takes that into account when determining who does/doesn't receive accepted offers.

Since you haven't yet received a denial, I would call NCL about your credit card issue. When they processed our upgrade, I got an immediate text from AMEX alerting me to a charge by NCL. That was my first indication our bid had been accepted. I would hate to get an accepted offer only to have it reversed because of a credit card issue.

This is actually the first time any of us have cruised with NCL. I did update our payment method.

I am merely curious if they offer the chance to people to update their card (should they fall into a situation where they did not catch it, like we did), or if they simply deny the offer and move on.

An irrelevant question, but one I'm intrigued by nonetheless :D

  5. I'm curious about something...

We bid on an upgrade, but the card we have on file was cancelled due to fraud. I just realized this today, and will update accordingly. However, I'm curious if anyone has ever had a bid accepted, but then lost out because their card was declined? I see that our offers are still pending, but the rest of our party has already been rejected. I can't tell if this is a good or bad thing...?

  6. NCL uses a third party data company to process their upgrade bidding. They use an algorithm when processing bids that, we mostly assume just maximizes the earning potential of the sailing. It will accept or reject your bid based on what is going to net NCL the most money. Keep in mind that accepting a bid has a ripple effect through the whole ship. If your bid to a Haven suite is accepted, that frees up your original room, which can then be awarded to a bidder who bid on that category, which opens up THAT room to someone who bid on it and on down the chain. So it's not just the dollar amount of your bid that is a factor, but the bids of those below you in the chain.

In any case, the algorithm is only going to award you one upgrade at most. If you bid in multiple categories, it will determine which bid, if any, is worth accepting.

Thank you for such a thorough explanation! :):)

  7. Hi all! This is our first cruise on NCL, and my first cruise in nearly 20 years!

I just put in a bid (exactly at 80 days, I'm eager) for an H7. I'm afraid it's a bit too low, so I'm hoping that ship capacity, being hurricane season, may be lower.

ANYWAY! My question is, am I able to bid on 2 upgrades at once? Has anyone ever done this before? If so, is it possible for both bids to be accepted? I cannot decide between the two options, and I kind of want to leave it to fate if one is accepted... :o:o:o
