  1. I've seen the lists of what is included in the open bar, but haven't been able to figure out - will they make you any mixed drink if the ingredients are included?  For instance, if I wanted a mudslide, would they make it?  I see the list of premade mixed drinks, but am assuming you can order beyond that.  Are you able to get any fruity/frozen drinks?  Thank you!

  2. Just so I'm understanding this correctly, Sun sailings include the beverage package, so when booking/selecting the Free at Sea options, we should NOT choose the beverage package since it's already included?  I just want to make sure I'm not missing something :).  Thanks!

  3. We were on Breakaway the week before Easter. There were apparently 1300 kids on board, and we were shocked when we saw that Splash Academy capacity was just less than 200 (can't remember the exact amount, but I think it was something like 189).

However, we only heard of it reaching capacity on two or three nights. The first night filled up as everyone wants to give it a shot (get there early), and the last day it fills up because people want their kids to participate in the show. Otherwise they may have filled up on the second to the last night...but I can't remember for sure.

That being said, if you know you want to participate during one of those busy times, just make sure you get there when they open (or a bit ahead of time) and you should be fine! We used it every day and were never turned away. Have fun!

  4. We've got 6:30 reservations for Rock of Ages and we have two small children (3&5) that we were going to drop off at Splash Academy early. I would like to hear how this will work with the no reservation deal. Will they still offer early drop off? I'll be pretty upset if they don't, because the later showings are too late to keep the kids out.

  5. We'll be arriving back on the Breakaway on Easter (4/5). We originally had a flight out of LGA at 2:40, getting home before 5:00. Now, they've changed our flight to leave LGA at 4:15, not getting home until 6:40.

We will have a 3 and 5 year old with us, and will have work and school the next day. The thought of sitting at the airport all day with them is not appealing. However, there is another flight out at 11:57am.

Our options...we could stick with the later flight and try to get stand-by for the earlier one. Or, we could change (without fee) to the earlier one and hope we make it. I know every time we cruise out of Miami we're to the airport plenty early. Just wasn't sure what the logistics are for NYC.

    Thanks!

  6. I know I've read that Splash Academy will open 15 minutes early for shows (so 6:45). However, I'm looking at a 6:30 ROA showing. Will SA be open early for this?

Also, to confirm, this is not just for ROA? For instance, I'm looking at a 7:00 Second City. Will SA open at 6:45?

    Thanks for your help!

  7. I'll be cruising on Breakaway in March. We'll have two small kids, so I want to minimize my idle time! What's the best time to get to the terminal so I'm not waiting too long before boarding begins, and still not one of the last groups to board?

On a side note, does the terminal have wi-fi? That would help with occupying the littles while we wait. :) Thanks!

  8. In any NYC Livery Car (taxi or car service) car seats are not required. Strange exception to the law...

I know they aren't required, but I just wanted to avoid the situation anyway. We'll hire a car service (with car seats) from the airport to Manhatten and after the cruise back to the airport, but wanted to avoid another leg if we could just walk!

  9. wow if he was NYC he has never been there. They open up a walk in entrance at street level and there are elevators up. You don't need to walk up the ramp and in fact I think they don't allow you to walk up the ramp anyway

you will need to scroll down a little as I think the link is pier 92 at 52nd street but the other piers are the same. They open the gates when the ship is in...

This is awesome! Thanks so much! I was hoping it would really be that easy...as long as we can handle our luggage, this looks like a pretty easy walk. :)
