Thank you for the information, as well as for serving in your community. I, too, serve locally, and have participated in a few mission trips to Mexico, as well. I have no problem spending $45 for supplies, transportation, and security (let’s face it, Jamaica isn’t the safest place these days), which is probably what a good amount of the excursion fee goes toward. I also prefer to interact with people, rather than simply donate, whenever possible. I don’t feel that taking 4 1/2 hours out of my 7-night Cruise to serve others, who will probably never be able to afford such a luxury, would lessen the fun and joy that I will experience on my vacation. The point of my post was simply to hear about other people’s experiences with this particular excursion.

What’s the noise level like in and around Vintages? The cabin that is being offered to us looks like it’s across the hall. As convenient as that will be for me, we’ll be traveling with our children (ages 5 and 8), and I’m concerned that the noise of the venue and nearby foot traffic will keep everyone awake at night.

Thank you, but Disney is not an option, since its cost is significantly higher than both of the NCL and RCCL options that we are considering.

We are considering a cruise in June with our two kids (ages 5 and 8). Our original choice was RCCL Harmony of the Seas, but are now considering NCL Getaway, simply because of the significant price difference. My husband and I are also HUGE foodies and winos. Which of the two ships do you think would best meet our needs of having top-notch activities/programs for our children, as well as superior dining/wine options for us?
