  1. Have tried searching but found no reliable information.  We are doing cruise tour beginning in Fairbanks. Seven days later we get on Grand Princess in Whittier.  How is the pre-cruise testing done?  Is it still required? Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Sorry to report we cancelled our February Antarctica Explorer cruise after having booked it almost two years ago.  We were planning the Easter Island pre-cruise extension. So for a testing schedule picture this.

PCR test 48 hours prior to boarding plane for Chile.  Another PCR upon arrival in Santiago.  Another PCR to go to Easter Island.  Another PCR to return to Santiago.  Another PCR upon arrival in Buenos Aires.  One more PCR in Ushuaia. Daily testing on the ship.  What would one calculate the probability of a positive test  some where along the way that would ruin our very expensive but much anticipated trip?  We do a little gambling but these odds were just too much for us.  This does not even factor in the absolute anxiety of the next test turning positive.  For these reasons we cancelled and booked again for January 2023.  We really hope all of you going on the cruise stay safe and healthy and have an absolutely wonderful time.  We look forward to pictures and reviews so we can learn anything for 2023.  Safe travels!

  3. We had the revamped lobster dinner on the Regal.  The lobster was very small and the green risotto tasted like wall paper paste. Worst meal we have had in a while.  Our waiter, who was excellent, brought me the beef wellington.  It is always very good.

  4. We disembarked the AOS and walked to Le Priori Hotel.  It is one and a half blocks from the pier. It is located in Old Town Quebec.  Smaller hotel but had terrific sized rooms and a great breakfast.  The staff was absolutely outstanding in every way.  A cab to airport was $35 CAD.  We cannot say enough good things about this hotel.  You will not be disappointed.

  5. Got home yesterday from the 14 day Land of the Midnight Sun cruise out of Southampton. The scenery was so spectacular. The waterfalls, fiords, and mountains were something to see. Norway is such a beautiful country. The weather was mostly nice. We had rain the day in Geiringer but it was not a total washout. Overcast in several ports but no rain. Bergen is absolutely beautiful. The Sapphire Princess is really nice after the spring drydock. The food and service were also pretty good as well. Did not see the Northern Lights but August is not really the best time to see them. The passengers were Americans, British, Canadians, and Aussies. I would highly recommend this cruise to Norway.

  6. Just returned from this cruise yesterday. I must say the scenery was spectacular. Norway is a beautiful country. We had really good weather except for one port day and even then not too bad. The Sapphire is in great shape after the spring dry dock. Food and service were really good as well. No sighting of the Northern Lights but the chances in August are not good anyway. The only negative we found was random odors as we walked around the ship. Passengers were mostly American, British, Canadian, and Aussie. We had a great time and would highly recommend this cruise.

  7. So after thinking about my frustrations with ***** over the weekend and also reading all of your comments, I called Princess again this morning (see Post 1). I was on the phone with a very nice lady who told me she had not received a single complaint or concern with *****. She told me she had received calls from passengers asking to be included in the ***** Pilot. Of course, she could not help me. I sent a note to Customer Relations to express my concerns.

Now I am concerned the check in process will be much longer and we will experience problems the entire voyage. Time will tell.

  8. So on Friday afternoon the FedEx truck arrived and delivered our Ocean Medallions for our Regal Crossing on April 15. Very attractive box included engraved medallions with our names, ship, and date. Included was a nice note thanking us for being Pilots on the upcoming cruise. There were no instructions anywhere to be found.

On one of the inserts were pictures of six different apps that can be downloaded from Google Play or the Apple App Store. The first app in Ocean Ready and is where you expedite the boarding process by entering all your information, including passport info, etc. I downloaded the app and my frustrations began. I could not for the life of me figure out the sign-in. It asked for your Ocean Credentials. As you will remember, there were no instructions included in the box. I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out the sign in and also searching google to see if I could learn any additional information. I must say all this effort was for naught so I called the Princess number for assistance. The young lady told me she would transfer me to the Medallion help desk. I held the line and finally got a message saying they were either closed or there was no one to help me. Not giving up that easy, I called back to the Princess number and insisted I needed to talk with someone. She was very polite and asked if she could put me on hold and see if she could locate someone to help. After several minutes, she connected me to a very nice young man and the frustration continued to build. He finally admitted the Ocean Ready is having severe problems but he would do his best to help me sign in. He told me the Ocean Ready app is required to use the other 5 apps. After about 30 minutes of him telling me exactly what to do with no positive results, he finally told me he could not help.

With my frustration at a high level and after wasting now about three hours, I told him I would just throw all this medallion stuff in the trash can. He did chuckle a little and said I understand. Never did he say the technology was not ready for deployment and I asked him this question several times. He did say that we should bring the medallions with us on the 15th as maybe something would be working by then.

So my question --- has anyone used the Medallions or any of the six apps available to make your life and cruise easier? I admit I am not very high tech, but this is ridiculous. I would love to hear any thoughts or comments. I am sure I will get flamed for this note but I really am frustrated. Maybe I will Come Home New from the cruise but I am surely leaving home feeling old and frustrated.

    So no

  9. We are sailing Adventure of the Seas in late September out of Cape Liberty. Flying in two days early and have booked at Country Inns and Suites at Newark Airport. Have had two neighbors tell me this is a very unsafe neighborhood but I do not see any comments expressing that in all the reviews I have read. Can any of you give us some feedback on the area? There are three couples traveling together.

    Thanks.

  10. I recall a Grand Asia cruise from Shanghai to Singapore with a cruise tour beginning in Beijing. I am looking for a 2018 sailing and cannot seem to find this itinerary. Will this route be done with the Majestic Princess or are the schedules just not posted as of yet. I sent a note to Princess but after a week no reply.

  11. I have been looking over hotels for pre-cruise and just about decided to stay over night near Houston Hobby and take a limo. shuttle, or private town car from the hotel directly to the Bayport Cruise Terminal (Emerald Princess - 01/11/2015). Can anyone recommend a reputable service where we can reserve our transfer. Six of us with luggage.
