Similar situation in April but told can move. I’m holding on to see what they do
Heard from MSC today that our cruise from Barcelona to Italy, will still operate as normal. Doesn’t make sense they are going to Italy, but will not allow anyone from Italy to board the ship. So how does it work when you get into port, just stare over the side of the ship, no one getting on or off, might as well stay at sea. Anyway insurance will payout, just a hassle. Two more cruises booked this year...doh!

Italian population has higher proportion of elderly people compared to most other countries so this is reflected in the higher death rate.
Not surprising with Italy, they are very warm touchy-feely people, as stated last week by an Italian minister. I have Italian friends, always give a very warm greeting, hugging and kissing, it’s their culture.

We are on MSC on 26th March. The itinerary includes three Italian ports, what’s the point. Italy is now on total lockdown. I was expecting them to reroute the ship, but so far nothing. If we cancel, no refund, can move to a later date. The FCO haven’t put up a full restriction to Italy, so no refund from insurance company. Our cruise starts in Barcelona, so airlines aren’t interested in changing tickets. All a bit of a mess really. Anyway main thing is we stay safe, but would like money back.

So unimpressed with MSC, cruise 26th March, statement, ships are still going to Italy, so we can’t go. No communication from them, really bad. In comparison to Cunard, had an e mail from them saying, we can delay our May 2020 cruise until Dec 2021. Can cancel up to 48 hours before. Given $300 on board credit for 4 day cruise. Lovely e mail from them. MSC, won’t bother with them again, would’ve been our first cruise, with a little care would’ve resulted in repeat business as we take about 3 cruises a year.
