We have high number of top tier passengers on this voyage, Pinnacle 288, Diamond Plus 1129, Diamond 1034. The ship should have shown some appreciation to our loyal customers. Alas, no free lobster tails on menu for 2 weeks other than paid menu.

With many high tier passengers on board, our voice is heard. Royal's interactive app just added the lobster tail on tonight's menu even tonight is not a formal night.

  3. IMG_20231105_212152.thumb.jpg.4a375a9e864d90200b7b721ab3b46f62.jpgI am currently on Symphony ots. Last night on the main dinning room entree menu, not children menu, there was an item of "lobster Mac and Cheese". The bowl was very small, smaller than the onion soup bowl, about 3/4 full of Mac with some source. There was no sign of chopped or ground meat with the Mac. I am half way to Pinnacle. I am going to fold.

  4. We have been to several TA, sometimes with friends. My friend who is a nature photographer swears that he will not go TA again because he could not capture anything in the open sea. His wife and my wife spent many hours in the gym and were quite happy with that. I am the type of "a day at sea is better than a day at home" type person. We enjoyed TA but not with the photographer.

  5. Last month when we were on a taxi going into PE in the afternoon. After we passed the entrance before getting to the dock, we saw 3-4 couples dressing in tourist clothing walking along the chain fence. I am wondering if pedestrians are allowed to walk out of the port of Everglade and POM. If so, can they flash the cruise cards to get back in?

  6. ... I am happy to donate money and or what ever is needed. RCCL should continue to support the island financially. My issue is that it seems to be too soon. Let the island heal.

RCCL playing the old bait and switch game is offensive. Don't trap me into an itinerary that I don't want my very young children to see just because RCCL says so. It should be my choice not my deposit that I lose. Shame on you RCCL...it's TOO SOON!

    Call...I did!

Here is a solution for you. When the ship docks at the damaged ports, donate money directly to the islanders and stay on board as just another sea day. So that you are helping to rebuild the islands and in the mean time, you and your young children will not see the unfortunate locals.

  7. We only cruised European river once 15 years ago. I vaguely remember that tipping envelopes were dropped in a wooden box. The recent Viking recommended gratuity is:

Program Director – €2 per guest, per day

Onboard staff – €12 per guest, per day

Local city guides – €2 per guest, per day

Coach drivers – €1 per guest, per day

that is €17 per guest, per day, or almost US$20 per guest per day.

If we plan for a 15 day/14 night cruise, the tipping alone would be $500-600 for 2 passengers. Is this "European Greed"?

  8. I am sure this has been posted before. I would like to confirm the situation. We were on Caribbean Princess. We tested the deadbolt doors.

    1. When the deadbolt is locked from inside, the passenger cruise card cannot open the door. The led light above the swipe slot turns yellow.

    2. When the deadbolt is not on, the light turns to green.

    3. When a wrong cruise card is swiped, the light turns to red.

    4. The cabin attendant's card can open a deadbolt door. When he swipes the card, the light turns to green even the door is deadbolted.

I discussed the situation with Passenger Service. He said the standard procedure is that the attendant must knock on the door, wait a few moment, then knock the second time. If there is no answer, he would enter the cabin. The attendant often used his card tapped on the door. In about 2 seconds, he tapped again, then open the door. I was in the shower and my wife was blowing her hair. We could not hear the tapping. Passenger Service recommended that when we do not wish to be disturbed, put up the sign.

What is the purpose for the deadbolt? It only prevents the roommate to enter the room!

  9. I was surprised that she could drive a rental car from US to Canada. I few years ago when I rented a car in New York, the agent specifically told me that the rental car could be confiscated by the Canada Custom. I had to acknowledge the warning clause on the rental agreement.
