  1. Going on Celebrity Summit this Sunday (July 16)

I prepurchased a photo package, paying $200 for 24 photos... 12 printed and 12 on CD. I am splitting this with my friend who is in another cabin. Is this a good deal or is there a better one on board?

What are the individual photo prices on board? I was figuring they were $25-30 based on past cruises.

    thanks!

  2. On a high school trip to England long, long ago one of my classmates actually asked if Brits celebrated Thanksgiving....

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Helen, I had a friend ask me if Jewish people in America celebrated Thanksgiving...

  3. Looking into parasailing for our teens next week (July 17, 2017 Celebrity Summit) I saw KS Spots and ElbowBeach Cycles (Skyrider)

Does anyone have any input on either of these? Thanks!

  4. To get to the caves from the Dockyard, board the ferry to Hamilton (20 minute ride). Walk from the ferry terminal in Hamilton to the bus terminal on Church St. Board a route #10 or #11 bus, and as you board, tell the bus driver your destination. You'll be dropped at a stop near the caves.

    OR

You take the ferry to St George (45 minute ride). Walk to the bus stop on York St, and board an inbound route #1, #3, #10, or #11 bus, and as you board, tell the bus driver your destination.

If you take a route #1 or #3 bus, you'll be dropped at the access road to the caves. If you take a route #10 or #11 bus, you'll be dropped near (in front of the Swizzle Inn) the caves leaving you a short walk to th caves. See map below:

Thank you, SailBad! That is very helpful! I just had a knee replacement so I'll hang out at the Swizzle Inn when the rest of our group goes to the caves!

  5. The description sounds like an excursion I did in Bermuda about 15 years ago. It includes a beach but they are going to drop anchor and you will have to climb down into the water and back up from the water to get on the small beach. Do you think you can do that?

My suggestion would be to go to Tobacco Bay in St. George's. It is a beach and there is decent snorkeling off of the beach.

    Thanks, Charles!

We were thinking of going to St. George's anyway so that's a good idea!

  6. Has anyone taken this ship excursion or had experience with Devil's Isle?

We're two women in our early 60's traveling with 2 teens (my son, her daughter) on Celebrity Summit. I recently had a total knee replacement and am not as recovered as I thought I would be still need a cane to walk steps and help me get up from seated) They want to snorkel and I want to sit on a beach.

Normally, I rarely take a ship excursion but this one looked interesting and the price was ok ($60- and I have lots of OBC to use) Most snorkel tours are just that, but this one also includes a beach. The others in my group are worried that its not really good snorkeling.

Any input appreciated! We are leaving on Sunday!

    Kings Wharf, Bermuda

This tour combines a sightseeing cruise with the perfect island escape. Begin with a boat ride through the bays and beaches of the Devil’s Isles. Drop anchor at a secluded paradise equipped with everything you need for the best Bermuda day ever. Grab a float and unwind in the water. Lounge on the soft sand. Snorkel the shallow reef. Or, order up a drink from the Dark ‘n Stormy Boat Bar and simply relax. There are some kayaks and paddle boards available and they are subject to a first come, first serve basis.

  7. I've cruised on several lines, including Carnival. I was on C for a 4 day, a 7 day, and a 14 day cruise. In all instances I saw many more people having MUCH too good a time (drunk, obnoxious, loud, boisterous, in-your-face) on Carnival than on any of the other lines I have been on. And then all the silly contests, "hairy chests" among them.

Carnival caters to the younger set -- more likely to be a bit out of control, perhaps.

There were also many more children on C, and parents who just seemed to think it was ok to let their kids roam the ship unattended. I don't care how good the kids are at home...you put a pack of kids together without adult supervision, and things can quickly get out of hand.

I also really dislike C's decor -- loud, brassy, garish to my tastes. It seems to me that when the atmosphere is "loud", the people tend to be less in control. The glitter, flashing lights, naked statues, seem to bring out the worst in them.

The C crew were outstanding, the food good, the service exemplary...but I wouldn't cruise on C again unless it had an itinerary that was unique and totally unavailable on any other line (and they change their decorator...which I have learned they have, since my last C cruise in the early 2000's...)

I just got off a 5 day cruise on the Glory and I agree with uppitycats. I have been on 37 cruises and this is only my 2nd on Carnival. The last was 30 years ago and at 26 years old at the time, I felt old.

Yes, too many having a boisterous way too much alcohol good time and kids running all over the place at all hours. And, the decorating is horrible.

I also agree that the crew were great and the food was good!

  8. There are many posts that include the entertainment issue. I think it is a crapshoot right now. On our first cruise - the Grand, the band in Wheelhouse was Phoenix Rising and we thought they were great. Have not run into them since and hoping they will be on the Ruby in April:)

We also had a sailaway group on the Grand a couple of years later, forget their name, and they were fantastic. I believe the lead singer was a woman. I mentioned this to the CD when I ran into him and said they sould be in one of the lounges. He did not take my advice very well. Actually made me feel like I knew nothing about entertainment.:( People were wondering what happened to them after Sailaway. Oh well.

    So a crapshoot it is.

Phoenix Rising was on the Crown last week. Great group! we also had a Caribbean band called Temperature. They played limited hours by the pool and sometimes in Explorers. PR was in Wheelhouse.
