Brandy V. was our waiter in the Da Vinci dining room on the Ruby Princess. He was by far the best waiter we have ever had on any cruise. Very pleasant, fast, efficient, and anticipated all of our needs. I wish I had taken a picture with him.

We're scheduled for a June Alaska cruise. I just got an email from Princess expecting it to be notification of cruise cancellation, only to find they had upgraded us to a balcony!

Thanks for the wonderful post. We are taking the Mexican Riviera--Cabo, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta...October 24 out of Los Angeles (San Pedro).
It has been over 25 years since we have taken a Mexican cruise. Any advise you can give us on tours, things to do, etc would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
I highly recommend the "ECO-SAFARI OFF-ROAD ADVENTURE" when you are in Puerto Vallarta. You go on backroads, explore some small villages, and then end the day with a BBQ lunch on a beautiful beach.. My son and I went on that last year, and it was our favorite part of the trip.

Not me personally, but I once had a table mate who had celiac disease, and they were very accommodating.

You definitely want to do 2 nights in Denali.

Our recent booking on the Golden Princess included the "Wine and Dine" package (2 bottles of wine and one specialty restaurant per person.) There are 3 of us in the cabin, and none of us drink wine, and we are not really interested in going to the specialty restaurants. Can the wine and the restaurant cover charges be exchanged for a different perk, such as onboard credit, a coffee card, or other type of beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)?

Thank you. I appreciate your input.

We will be on the Golden Princess in Alaska in June and it will not have been upgraded to MedallionNet before then. Has anyone had experience with the onboard internet on the Golden? I had heard it was not the best quality, and I am hesitant to purchase a package.

On our first Princess cruise we were on the Island Princess in Alaska. We booked an inside guarantee and got assigned a balcony. We did not receive our room assignment until the day before our cruisetour began.

Didn't receive either the tumbler or the waters with the soda and more package on my recent Ruby cruise.

How long did it take to hear back? I submitted the form on Jan 2 and no response. I left a voicemail yesterday and still no response.
I never heard back for my request for credit for a Mexican snorkeling excursion. Assumed it was denied. When I got on board, I checked my account, and the credit was there.

I was recently on the Ruby on the Dec. 15th cruise, and tendering in Cabo started around 11.

We have an inside cabin booked on the ruby in a few weeks; I'm curious what the placement of the TV will be.
For us, it was in one corner of the room, directly across from the foot of one bed. That bed didn't have the best view of the TV. The other bed was better positioned to see the TV.

If you know, could you gets hands behind to get access to outlet(s)
Yes, there is one outlet that you can still access.

That's a bummer. Which cabin were you in? I wonder why it was not flat wall mounted.
We were in an inside cabin, and I think it was due to the way the inside cabins are laid out. They are smaller, and there are large mirrors to give the illusion that the room is larger, so there was really no other place to put it.

Just off the Ruby. In my cabin, the TV was not flat wall mounted. It was placed diagonally in the corner just above the shelf where the old TV was located. Because of the TV placement, you really couldn't use the shelf.

I recommend doing the land portion first and starting in Anchorage, if you want more time in Denali. The trips that start in Fairbanks often shortchange you with your time in Denali. I recommend completely opting out of the Denali tours through Princess if they allow that and booking the same exact tour through the national park website -- nps.gov/dena . You will be on the same bus with other people on your cruisetour, but you will save about 20% over what Princess charges you. The biggest savings comes if you have children between the ages of 13-15. Princess charges them the full adult tour fare, but they are half price on Denali's website. Book at least the Tundra Wilderness or longer tour. Do not book the Natural History Tour. It does not go very far into the park, and you spend a great deal of time at the nature center, which you can go to on your own for free. From my experience, Alaska usually goes on sale in February with Princess.

I only tried this once, and Princess never notified me of any decision one way or another. Then, about 2 weeks after I submitted the best price guarantee form, a credit showed up in my travel summary. This was 3 years ago.
