They don’t make you dress up on Gala Night, just a suggestion.

We don't much care for the YC restaurant or menu choices for that matter. So far into the cruise we've done 1 night inside the YC restaurant (classic filet order) the menus just don't do it for us. We would rather hit BC or Kaito and buffet for quick salads. The Ocean Cay lobster roll is probably the best item we've had from anything related to YC.

  2. I can say that the shrimp cocktail is no longer listed on the menu as a Classis always available choice, and upon request was told its only available certain days in the YC Restaurant for whatever reasons. At least on the Seascape when I inquired as I do enjoy a shrimp cocktail when at sea.. As with all things MSC, YMMV.

  3. To update this old thread, yes it's possible, all you need to do is ask the concierge.

Currently onboard the Seascape. We were upgraded a few months ago to YC from a Bella balcony, unsure why but I will take it! (onboard spend habits? / voyager points totals ? or just a random draw? ) Anyhoo we don't do dress up while on vacation/cruises and asked to have gala night lobster dinner delivered to our balcony rm 16030. Mr Eric Lafite(sp?) at the Concierge desk took our meal order with a smile and it will be delivered promptly at 630pm. I made this request day (today) of at roughly 3pm. Just a data point.

It's Galveston to the same 3 ports every boat out of Galveston goes to over and over and over again.   Only reason doing the cruise is we live 90 minutes away and Havana.

I would take the $800 and use it to book flights to Mia/FLL for a change of scenery and ports of call, unless you've already "been there and done that" . If so then the excursions and chef's table.

    May I ask why?

I guess we are low maintenance cruisers that don't drink alcohol and don't need much hand holding. Weve been aboard the Divina for 6 days, we've eaten 3 breakfasts and two lunches in Le Muse, the dinner menus have not appealed to us to date so its buffet which is always consistently good or butchers cut. The YC staff are tremendous I just dont see the value vs cost.  My wife said walking into the top sail lounge in the evening is like walking into a funeral home, they do keep the finger foods stocked and are prepared to fix a drink.

We have enjoyed being walked off the ship for our excursions other than that just put me in a balcony cabin and I will be a happy cruiser. I am not knocking the YC at all it's just not our thing.

Armonia didn't have YC but did well on its sailings out of Miami after moving from Cuba, Poesia and Orchestra also did well despite not having YC. Not everyone needs or wants YC cabins.

I agree 100% with not everyone needs YC cabins, currently in one and would never choose it again. Obviously they have a larger demand for cabins hence the smaller older ships moving away being replaced by the larger capacity ships. I think the market out of S.Florida is strong for MSC or would like to hope so anyways as its our current favorite cruise line.

  7. The Magnifica does not have a "yacht club" and its an older ship with small capacity so I am not surprised they are keeping it away from the east coast USA. MSC seems to be holding their own in the cruise market out of Miami and Canaveral so it makes sense to bring in the larger capacity ships that are more up to date.

  8. No idea but we booked the last cabin available on that cruise (RS) while onboard the seashore this summer according to Suzanna the cruise consultant. I am glad to be getting our deposit back as I was having 2nd thoughts about 6 back to back seadays. We can stay and tour Europe longer, now to find a cheap one way biz class flight back to the states.

  9. I did not use or try to use the Thermal suite, but if it is a perk of Aurea yes indeed you should be able to access it. An upgrade is an upgrade imo, your boarding pass when it print it should say Aurea so use it for priority boarding and any other perks listed with that experience!

Enjoy your cruise, I love MSC so far, two more days until boarding the Divina and so looking forward to 10 days of peace and relaxation.

  10. You have to select a balcony when doing that promotion, do not select an ocean view and expect to get a balcony. If you would've noticed as others have mentioned the prices were the same for oceanview and balcony when selecting which room type you wanted. I would email

    MSCExistingReservations@msccruisesusa.com

And hope they fix it for you.

    Best of luck.

  11. I booked a bella balcony for the Seashore this past July . I received an aurea balcony. The only thing I noticed was a nice scented diffuser was left in my room during one of the cruise days which I took home, they sell in the gift shop for $35.. You should receive priority boarding if your ticket says aurea. I used my diamond to board priority so I cannot say if I would have recieved priority boarding with just the ticket. Robes were in my room along with slippers. Other than that it was like any other balcony room on MSC.

    Edit:

As for the "perks" yes I received the perks listed under "Aurea" choclate ship/prosecco etc.. so I had double of everything since diamond also includes those things. And I was traveling solo.

  12. The menu's in the YC do not tempt me in the least, having diamond I already get the priority line. But I did bid on a YC upgrade upgrade to balcony/"suite" on our upcoming Nov 4th Divina cruise if nothing else just to say been there done that got the tshirt. I received the email two days ago that my bid was accepted and given a YC room number. So I will post my thoughts post cruise on the matter.

  13. On my laptop I can click on the little person icon, top right corner by the log out link.

From there you will see different choices such as plan my cruise, account settings, MSC Voyagers Club. Click MSC Voyagers Club.

There you will see your MSC status and how many points youve accumulated in total.

Also if you scroll down the page you will see how many points per ship/cruise you received.

  14. I tested positive 3 days after coming off my MSC Seashore B2B that ended August 6th i believe it was., I had a cough nothing more. August 20th RC Explorer of the Seas cruise was a no-go due to a positive test, but was promptly refunded after a phone call. Re-Tested Sept 1st and positive still..aggravating to say the least.

Upcoming November 4th Divina cruise, I will get a negative result!!!

  15. The best time to use the internet on the Seashore is when the majority of passengers are off the ship.

When in port and the ship is deserted = 400kb/s

When the ship is sailing = 10kb/s (tops)

One of the topics brought up last week during a luncheon with MSC higher ups was the internet and how bad it "sucked" so hopefully some changes are made soon.

    What's best to attempt? TIA.

Caesars Diamond looks like it might match to MSC Diamond...I cant add a link but if you google Caesars diamond to msc status match you will find a .pdf with all of the loyalty programs you can use to match to MSC and what it will give you.

What ship were you on, what date was this ?

I am still on the Seashore, I am doing the back to back...

I embarked the 23rd of July, the luncheon with the President and two other higher ups with MSC was on the 28th, I am pretty sure they said they were staying onboard for the 2nd leg of the cruise so possibly having another luncheon this coming Thursday Aug 4th.

  18. I received an invitation to the specialty dining sampling in the daily papework thats placed on the room door.... Today (sea day) 1:30pm Deck 8 aft Cocktail bar is the meeting spot.

If the MSC President of US operations is still onboard they will have a lunch on Thursday seeking input from the invited guests. It was pleasing to hear about some changes coming to Voyagers Club.

  19. I could not edit my previous post so I will adda little detail to the main dining question..

Your key/ship card will have your main dining info on it, I chose early dining when I booked my ticket as well. Since the seating time and table are already assigned, I dont see that there would be any queing issues. But as mentioned earlier I have not visitied main dining yet.

On the back of my key/ship card it has:

    Restaurant: Central Park

    Deck: 5

    Seating time 17:15

    Table # 365

    Happy Sails...
