Thanks for the great review!! We have similarities ... I booked our first Carnival Cruise for October, me and my son and daughter and it will be on my daughter's 21st birthday celebration (first day on the ship is her birthday). :)

Hello all, I am new to Carnaval and I was doing a mock booking last night just to get to the end and see all of the prices and add-ons and what not but it never asked me about adding a drink package? Do you do that at time of booking?
Thanks!

I know many military families, like mine, appreciate the low deposits!
Thank you for your family’s service and sacrifices.

It was rude and in poor taste and did nothing to add to the thread.
Many will agree with that.
Maybe some people need to be reminded that there are others less fortunate than them in order to help them appreciate what they apparently have.

What is the big deal about a $50 deposit if you have to pay for it eventually?????
I don't see the enticement, unless you just want to play around with potential cruises and cancel without penalty?
I know for me, a reduced deposit is a huge help.
I am a single mom, putting one daughter through college and I have another son who is disabled so if I can get a $225 deposit versus a $750 deposit with a year to pay it off, that’s a huge help for me.

They are having $75 deposits right now ... promotion ends 6/30 :D

I was on the Sun earlier this month. As another poster mentioned, the DSC is higher, $19.99/day.
But yes, yes, yes, please tip those guys and tip them well for good service. From what I observed, they were the hardest working staff on that entire ship and also from what I observed, that sailing had some of the cheapest clientele I've ever cruised with. You should have seen how excited they were just to get $1 and treated with courtesy. It was sad, really. :(
Thanks!! I will still plan doing so!!

You are charged a higher DSC.
Norwegian Sky All-Inclusive and Norwegian Sun All-Inclusive (Port Canaveral sailings only)
- $22.99 USD per person per day for Suites
- $19.99 USD per person per day for all other stateroom types
Thank you!! :D

I am on the Sun in just under a month ... it's an open-bar ship so free drinks but it's not a "promo" ... I was going to bring cash to tip the bartenders but on an open-bar ship, are gratuities squeezed into my cost to sail somehow?

We were just on the Sun for the June 4th Cuba itinerary. This was my fourth time on the ship, and I must say the updates really looked good. The former observation lounge is now the Spinnaker lounge - very nice space to have a drink and relax. Dazzles was remodeled into a Bliss, and it's a definite improvement on the space. I always enjoyed Las Ramblas and its décor, and I was a little disappointed that it was being changed to Los Lobos - we planned on getting up there for tableside guac, but we never had the chance. It looks nice from the pictures I've seen, though. The buffet is notoriously small and weirdly laid out (a common complaint from people who sail her), however, the freshening up of the space in terms of tables, chairs, and carpet were noticeable to me, and very nice. Advice - we generally avoid the main buffet and either head to the Great Outdoors in back or over to Moderno, which is an extension of the buffet for breakfast and lunch. We ate in both main dining rooms, and I could tell there were new carpet and drapes. The menu is not the same as the newer ships like the Breakaway class, though. I still had no trouble finding something to eat, and I enjoyed both the food and the service. . The Sports Bar looked great - no more 90s TGIFridays décor. We wanted to eat in there one night, but it was packed. Both the Atrium bar and the Champagne bar
looked very nice as well, with updated chairs and barstools.
We were in an inside room on deck 9, and it looked beautiful with the new carpet, artwork, and reupholstered sofa.
All in all, I thought she looked great! I found the service and food to very good - I've read reviews from people on the same cruise I was on, and I don't understand all of their complaints. The all-inclusive drink deal was fantastic, and I felt like we had better service than we had with the beverage package on the Epic last February. We did pay for some specialty coffee and my husband paid one night to have a Maker's Mark - I also ordered water for the room ahead of time. The Sun is one of my favorite ships - I know others definitely disagree, but I like the size, I don't mind the "strange" layout, and she has some nice cabins that rival the newer ships in terms of space and storage.
Hope you enjoy your cruise as much as we enjoyed ours!
Thanks for all of this insight!! First time NCL cruiser here ... sailing on the Sun 7/20 to the Bahamas and I must say, I was getting nervous from the negative comments about the food, layout, etc ...

Thanks everyone!!!

Hello,
I have never sailed RC ... what kinds of offers do they come out with?
For instance, right now NCL is doing $50 deposits per person, fleetwide ... does RC ever offer anything like this?
What kind of offers are worth waiting for?
thanks!

I don't have any firsthand info, but did see here on the boards somewhere that someone said they paid tax on all of their drinks while still docked in Port Canaveral before the cruise left FL so maybe they have to tax you while in US waters but not when out to sea?
Definitely good to know especially if you are on the ship, drinking for 3-4 hours before the ship leaves, lol ... SURPRISE! :o

YAY!!! This is our cabin on the Sun for our July 20th sailing! Great pics!!

There's a pretty cool pirate museum there, not too far of a walk from the port. http://www.piratesofnassau.com/
I’ve been. It’s def cool especially if you are just on a self-guided walking tour!!

Sailing with Norwegian for the first time this summer, approximately what time do they start letting people on the ship?
What’s the earliest you’ve ever gotten into your state room?
On the final day, how early do you have to be out of your state room and then off the ship?
THANKS!!!

Yes, they will always send you the information on your car so just ask the driver for his first name and like the other poster said, check the car over and look at the license plate and you should be good!!!
I live in Orlando and go out with my girlfriends all the time down on international drive and we use it a lot just in case we are going to be drinking, it’s very convenient!

Just made reservations today for the Nov. 27, 2018 sailing. Booked a mini-suite on deck 11 which is supposedly under the observation lounge on deck 12. Now I see :confused: that it says observation lounge is being replaced. Replaced with what?? Please help if you know the answer.
NEW Spinnaker Lounge - Refresh to include new carpet, lounge chairs, bar stools, tables, decorative tabletops, chandeliers and reupholstered banquette sofa. Walls and pillars to be clad with new wood laminate and windows outfitted with new curtain arrangements. Upgrade to roped handrails and back bar refurbished with a new stone top

# of days till your next Norwegian cruise?
in Norwegian Cruise Line
Posted
I never even bid! It was actually pretty strange, I already had the cruise booked weeks ago but I had called inquiring about a future cruise but I ended up hanging up but apparently they still had my caller ID and they ended up calling two days ago thinking that I didn’t have my original booking, they were asking how they could help from my phone call two days prior.
So he looked at my current booking for two weeks from now and said let me see if there’s anything else we can do for you. I had already called about a month or so ago to ask if there were any other promotions that might get us into a better cabin and they said no so we really had given up on it so he came back on the line and said hold on, I’m working some magic for you and then another minute later he came back and said he was able to get us an upgrade to a balcony.
I was of course super happy and I hung up wondering if it was even real but he sent me my contract again and the new room number was there. 🤷🏽*♀️🤷🏽*♀️
