  1. Yes, Cool Dave owns or runs the company, but he does have other drivers. We found this out the hard way... after booking Dave via email, when we arrived in Jamaica, he called to tell us he was taking another larger group and that we’d have a different driver. I was really disappointed since I was under the impression that I was booking Dave, not just a company. However, our driver Sherlet, was amazing and she did NOT disappoint!! She helped us get through the admission line quicker at the falls, she got us a table at Scotchies, and did a great job with island information. I would highly recommend her!

  2. Thank you so much for responding so quickly!! And thanks for the advice... that's what I was afraid of. For our family of 4, he quoted us $150 which I think is totally fair. I will definitely let you know how it went when we get back. My husband and I did the falls long before we had kids, back in 1999 and we are excited to take our 14 & 12 year old sons back there now. Trying to make the most of our time and really experience Jamaica with our boys, this was the perfect option for us so I'm so glad I found your post. Thanks, again!

  3. Thanks for the recommendation! We contacted Cool Dave and are using him to take us to the Falls next week! I have a question, though, did you pay him with cash? Do you recall paying for the entrance for the falls with cash? And finally, did Scotchies take credit cards? Just trying to determine how much cash I should be taking with us or if credit cards are sufficient for all these places. Thanks so much!

  4. We had a credit given by RCL that showed up on the Cruise Planner that we were able to use to prebook stuff - but also a credit from the Travel Agent that was for On Board only and it did not show up on the Cruise Planner and could only be used onboard. The only reason I know it was applied is because the TA sent us a confirmation. We haven't cruised in years so I don't know if this is something new with the new website or not...

  5. Thank you all for chiming in! I think I’ll just keep it on airplane mode until we are in port. Better safe than sorry, I guess... we aren’t interested in paying extra for WiFi onboard, traveling with two teenage boys, it’s a great opportunity for them to “unplug”... for all 4 of us to unplug, actually. Just wanted family members to be able to get in touch if necessary. Thanks again!

  6. Hello! I've searched the forums (briefly ;))clear.png?emoji-wink-1685 but can't find a specific answer to my question... we are traveling on the Harmony of the Seas to Labadee, Falmouth and Cozumel and I'm trying to make sense of the cell coverage options. We have T-Mobile One which has unlimited texting and data in these countries we are visiting. When I searched T-Mobiles site, it said for Oasis Class ships, there is no data, and sending a text is $0.50/text and receiving texts is deducted from your domestic texting plan allotment (which is unlimited). Does this mean I can leave my phone cellular service on and I won't get charged a billion dollars from my cell company because the ships satellite picked it up? Does anyone have specific experience with T-Mobile on a Royal Caribbean cruise? We do not want to pay for the on board service just to ensure we are 'reachable' to family on land in case of emergencies. Thanks in advance!

  7. OK, I know this is a hot topic on here. I've searched for a specific answer to my question but haven't really found the exact answer I'm looking for... We have My Time Dining and I'm to understand that you no longer have to prepay the tip for that. I've read that the amount folks in cabins are charged is $14.50/day/guest. Now, my question is - do people who have selected My Time Dining pay the same amount tip per day ($14.50) as the guests with "specific" time dining (or whatever it's called)? That's the part that I'm a little confused about and just want to make sure there are no surprises on my bill at the end of our vacation (and I'm reducing that possibility by pre-purchasing the deluxe drink package for my husband and myself and the refreshment package for our kids).

I'm not asking whether or not to tip, whether or not to do it automatically, etc. Just if I'll see an additional charge for tip for My Time Dining on top of the $14.50/day/guest that I've read about. Thank you in advance for any responses!

  8. So sorry this happened. I never use a TA and all my 24 hour holds I've done myself on line with RCI and received a booking number...never a problem.

Thanks! I’ve learned my lesson. Actually, I researched the cruise, found our rooms, etc. all myself on the RC website and decided to call an agent to make sure I didn’t miss anything (better deals) and so she basically didn’t have to do anything, I could’ve done it all myself AND if I’d done it myself, I would’ve just booked the rooms that first day and not bothered with a hold. So, basically, using a TA just caused me more problems and more money. Then, when she told me there were no rooms available next to each other (after she lost our other room), I found two right next to each other on another website and had to tell her about them to get them switched! 🤦*♀️ Never again! I’m sure that’s not the norm, but very frustrating!

  9. A few weeks ago, our travel agent told us we could put two rooms on hold because it was the end of the month and knew the prices would go up the next day and I just wanted to check with my kids to make sure the dates were going to work... (two rooms next to each other) well, something happened and one of the rooms was "booked" out from under us and we had trouble finding two more rooms next to each other AND we missed out on the price discount on one of the rooms because we had to pick another and didn't get the discount. No one could explain why/how it happened and our agent said she would no longer offer a complimentary 24 hr hold.

  10. Hello! We are excited to be taking our kids on their first cruise, and it's been awhile since my hubbie and I have cruised... things have changed since then. That said, I made a reservation for specialty dining at a later hour than I preferred (it was all that I saw available at the time) but now I'm seeing an earlier time on the last night at sea. Is there any reason NOT to switch to this earlier time on the last night? Is there something in the MDR on the last night that is a MUST NOT miss? Thanks in advance for any advice!
