  1. Just back last night from another b2b NCL cruise.

While onboard, they had a special presentation for the 19-day NCL Jewel sailing from Vancouver, Canada to Yokohama, Japan departing next month on September 17th.

We booked at Category BB balcony cabin on this sailing for $737 per person including port charges/taxes/fees.

That's under $39 per person per day including port charges/taxes/fees for a nice balcony cabin!!!

I just noticed this morning that this rate is also available online through a couple of websites that are very popular with Cruise Critic members.

We have tons of air miles to burn available to us to book the flight back from Tokyo to LAX, if you must pay for your flight, one-way Tokyo-LAX flights can be had online for $398 including taxes/fees.

This cruise is one heck of a deal.

    WE'RE BOOKED, ARE YOU?

  2. So I took your suggestion used our friend Google but based on the agencies I found, it appears you have to be an employee or a retiree of an airline or similar. Am I correct in presuming that this is never verified by the agency or cruise line? That you simply book and don’t have to show the company identification as one has to do when flying non-rev?

    Your 3-sentence post contains 3 inaccuracies! :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

  3. I believe they do list it in the daily activity bulletin.

You can always post it on the roll call.

I set up a separate Yahoo e-mail account and design an invitation for anyone who is registered there.

I'm too lazy to run all over a big ship delivering invitations.

I appreciate what NCL does do providing a venue, refreshments and officers.

If they do, it must be something new.......Platinum Plus on NCL and never, ever saw any CRUISE CRITIC activities of any kind listed in the Free Style Daily.

  4. Don't you have to work for an airline or other travel related business to qualify for Interline rates?

    True....ONLY TO A CERTAIN EXTENT.

But then again people cannot take drinks onboard most cruiselines, people cannot take surge protectors onboard,

people cannot or are not supposed to block balcony doors from closing, people are not supposed to smoke on balconies, people are not supposed to hog chairs, people cannot take food ashore from ships, people are not supposed to share drinks, people are not supposed to save theater seaats......yada, yada, yada.....

    You get the drift.

  5. When Princess started doing these a few years back, they couldn't fill the ships...they were literally giving the cruises away for FREE.

We did a bunch of them with the cost of the cruise being credited towards the cost of another Princess cruise (less port charges).

That gimmick sure paid off for Princess because now they are some of Princess's most OVER-RATED and OVER-PRICED runs.

  6. I have 3 NCL cruises booked right now. 1 direct with NCL, with a group rate and extra perks. And the other 2 with 2 different online agencies I’ve used before. I compare each time I book. As stated in a previous post, sometimes a TA will have cabins held in a block that they can sell at a better rate then NCL themselves, sometimes they don’t.

All 3 have Next Cruise certificates added also. I had 2 and purchased more on ebay to help with the savings also. Unless I am unhappy with the next cruise, I will be purchasing more while on board this Oct.

You can buy as many as you want onboard......So far this year I purchased AND sold 12 of them.

I make about $50 off each certificate (I buy them @ $125 each and sell them @ around $175 each). Easy to

sell either here on CC, on Ebay or Craigslist.

I keep one or two to use on our next NCL cruise and sell the rest.

Then I repeat the whole process again, buying them onboard and selling them, buying them onboard and selling them.

You get the drift.....With the money I make from selling the certificates, it's another savings on our next cruise.

If you hassle enough and buy and sell enough of them, your next cruise could potentially be free.

ONE caveat though, you CANNOT use these if you book at interline rates- period!

  7. The bass reverberations inside cabins located above and below entertainment venues can be horrible.....we had 3 such cabins over the years. We changed cabins on 2 occasions.....in one of the changes the Hotel Director was involved as the ship was sailing "full" or so they claimed......he moved us up into a suite! On another one we were moved into a balcony. On the 3rd one, in a nutshell, they said "too bad", although we did get even with them and had the last laugh.

  8. I have done a few cruises with Norwegian and plan on using them in the future. I have one payed up for October. I've always booked direct with NCL either online or via an NCL cruise consultant. Would I get something more if I booked through an agent? I like Norwegian, just not sure whether I should try an agent next time. Advice?

Do yourself a BIG favor and find a travel agent that specializes in Interline rates.....this year we have done 10 cruises so far, and it's still July.......we have paid NO MORE than $25 per person per day and that INCLUDES the cost of the cruise, all port charges, taxes and fees.

    Google is your friend.

  9. I posted how to get from LAX to San Pedro using public transit on the Princess forums, anyone interested just reverse the following trip itinerary. This may not be helpful to the OP but perhaps other "able-bodied" passengers with some time to spare might find it useful:

If you can handle your luggage, you can take the G bus from LAX to the nearby Metro Station, take the Metro light rail to Rosa Parks/Willow Street Station, take the Metro again to Long Beach final stop Downtown Long Beach....then take LADOT express bus 142 to San Pedro. The bus stops right next to the cruiseship parking lot. It will only set you back $3.50 the entire trip. If you're a senior citizen, it's less than $2 although if you are a really older senior, forget it! It is not for the lighthearted and provided you also have ample time to get to the ship. The whole saga might take you close to 2 hours.

  10. We are looking into a eastern Caribbean cruise on the Crown next February. Would like to hear your experiences and thought about this ship.

We've been on her quite a few times......great ship in great shape.

One caveat though, of all the Princess ships, she's the one most likely to come down with Norovirus.

She always seems to be in the news for all the wrong reasons, Norovirus that is. Others may disagree.

So far we've been lucky, 47 years cruising and have so far always managed to escape that dreaded virus,

    even on the Crown.

At times you may run into hotel director Martin Ford onboard, he's one of Princess's best ! Great guy to know.

  11. What are interline rates?

Sent from my SM-G935V using Forums mobile app

Rates as low as $22 per person per day, at least that's the lowest we have paid.....I am sure there are others who have actually paid even lower than that (including port charges/taxes/fees).

So far this year we've done 10 such cruises, the last one we got back from just last week, the most we've paid has been $25 per person per day including port charges, taxes/fees. There are restrictions about who OFFICIALLY qualifies for these rates but it is easy to "qualify".

    Google is your friend.
