  1. Love Southwest. Usually always use them. However, they are not extending the travel credits from the cancellations past the one year date of the original purchase.  This makes it extremely difficult to use the credits if you purchased your airfare early last year. In our case, my husband and I have work conflicts which will push the availability for us to travel past this deadline.  Anyone else having this issue? And have or are you thinking of submitting for some sort of reimbursement through Princess?

  2. My husband and I have never stayed in a mini suite or a suite.  Last year while sailing on the Princess Caribbean, I managed to get an amazing rate for a window suite for the 14 day sailing leaving May 9th 2020 on the Princess Caribbean.  Basically it was $1900 per person for the two weeks plus we received a $300 onboard credit as part of the deal.  I told my husband that I had booked our next cruise, but I planned to keep the suite a surprise. (We often book our next cruise while on the ship, so fortunately he didn’t ask any questions.)  We would be celebrating our 33rd anniversary, and so a suite would have been extra special.

. In addition to the $300 onboard credit from Princess, we also had a  $550 casino credit Promo offer.  Closer to final payment, I transferred the booking to Costco and they were giving us an onboard credit of $265.  So those credits coupled with the other usual credits you get i.e. future cruise deposit credits and stock ownership, credits, we were “sitting pretty”.  And, the best part for me was looking forward to seeing  the surprise reaction on my husband‘s face when he realized we had a suite.   I spent much time learning about the nice perks which included club class dining, free specialty meal, and main dining room service menus.  You can tell, I was excited and proud of myself.  Yes, I’m slightly having a pity party! Please forgive me!

I have not yet had luck getting through on the phones to Princess, and the current prices on the their website seem higher.  Sadly, I’m not optimistic that I will see such a deal again on a suite.  I have two questions. For those of you who possibly  had a similar situation and have rebooked through Princess, were you  able to get a similar deal?  Also, are we able to use our option 1 future cruise credit on two separate cruises instead of just one?  While I won’t be receiving enough of a credit to put us back in a suite room and still give us all the onboard credit we were going to receive, getting to go one two cruises instead of one  would make  me feel a little better about losing the suite trip.

Sorry for such a long post!

  3. Anyone know if for those of us that chose not to cancel when the first cancellation option email came out On March 6th -will we get to keep the original on board credit that was offered?

‘’also, will we get reimbursed for Princess insurance we purchased?  And, if not what can we ask the insurance to cover?  We are out hotel and airfare

  4. I have $300 on board shore excursion credit for a May 2020 cruise.  I had put a couple of excursions in the cart at Princess.com. At the time, I was still undecided but knew if I didn’t pay for it within an allotted amount of time, it would disappear off my account.  Before I had a chance to decide, I received an email showing the two excursions had been paid for. In essence, my onboard shore excursion credit was automatically used without my approval.  Now I know I have time to cancel these two excursions and get my credit back, but I am just curious if this has happened to anyone else.

‘’I just wont be putting any more in my cart unless I’m sure I want to make the purchase.

  5. Let’s do some math for the add ons..  My husband and I just got of the Princess Caribbean last month .  It was 14 days and we exchanged our 250 free minutes for unlimited internet for 4 devices at a total cost of $179.99.  That is $6.43 a person per day.  Gratuities are $462 for a $16.50 per day cost.  So for just internet and gratuities this equals $22.93.   With the add on of $25 at a $2.07 difference, this new deal add on cost would be $57.96 more for the two weeks.

I did the math for the drink add-on as well.  We always purchase the coke package because we are not huge alcohol drinkers.  The coke package is $11.79 per day.  To add in  the new drink add on cost to the above it’s $15 more.  ($25+$15=$40). $15-$11.79=$3.21 per person.   In order to drink an occasional alcohol drink  for the two weeks, that would cost us an additional $89.88.

So, for an extra total cost $147.84-the only thing we would get out of the deal would be unlimited alcohol drinks.

    Not worth it to us.

  6. I understand that you can get plain coffee for free anywhere on the ship, but does RC offer a better quality plain coffee that is not free?  There is a lot of discussion about specialty coffee, but I am just interested in regular coffee choices.

We are first timers to RC sailing on the Liberty in January.  My husband drinks regular coffee all day long.  The only other beverage he likes is coke.  He does not drink alcohol.

I have already paid for the refreshment package for him, but if he doesn’t need it for regular coffee,  then I will downgrade him to the coke package.

‘’I’m not sure if the Liberty has a Starbucks kiosks, but that would be a good example.  Would he need the refreshment package for a cup of regular coffee there?

  7. We are sailing on the Princess Caribbean and will be arriving at Mahagony Bay on July 3rd from noon til 7pm. I was looking forward to hiring a driver and visiting the sloth hangout and the iquana farm, but both close at 3pm. Now I’m wondering if I should think about doing something else. My concern is that by the time we make it off the ship and out to the driver, it will most likely be close to 1pm. I don’t know how much time to expect staying at each place in order to enjoy the experience, and I’m wondering if the monkeys and sloths will even be interacting this late in their day. Has anyone else gone in the afternoon to either of these places? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

  8. My husband and I have cruised many times, but have never been lucky enough to book an aft cabin. I noticed last week that B757 was open on a cruise coming up in June that would work for us. I wondered why it was still available, and I called Princess directly and asked if there was anything wrong with the cabin. I had noticed the weird blank space between this cabin and another on the deck plan and asked about it as well. I was told there was absolutely nothing wrong with this cabin, and that the blank space was just a walled enclosure. The rep. made it sound like someone must have cancelled, allowing the cabin to be released, and I just got lucky. Based on that conversation, I booked this cabin so excited to finally get to cruise in an aft cabin. I even planned on keeping it as a surprise and not tell my husband.

Now, I’m reading that there are issues with smells and vent noise. Evidently the “walled enclosure” is really an air conditioner. The posts I’m reading are several years old.

Has anyone stayed in this cabin recently? What did you think? I think we can handle some noise, but I’m really not going to be able to handle any strong odors. Since the ship was renovated recently, I'm hoping maybe Princess might have tried to fix the smell issue.

    Thank you :)
