It’s hard to advise without knowing where your hotel is. Tube is only about $5 from Heathrow into central London. If you don’t want to struggle with luggage that probably isn’t an option. BlackBerry Cars is a private car service that is usually highly recommended and among the more reasonable in cost.
Our hotel is on John Islip street and is the Doubletree by the river.

We are arriving on November 1, into Heathrow. Does anyone know an affordable way to get to our hotel, and then to the cruise port in Southhampton? We are not youngsters, and don’t want to struggle too much with luggage. Any suggestion?

Thanks for letting me know. I was pretty sure that I was on the Celebrity Silhouette November 3 site.;p

Thank you all for all of your suggestions on transportation. I have not been there for years and never thought about it when I booked this cruise. We will get a car to the hotel, then on Saturday morning, get a car to Southampton.
We are staying at the Doubletree Westminster near the Thames. We chose this because it is within walking distance to several things,
See you on the ship!

Thanks for the suggestion. We are now leaning toward a private car service. It is called Airport Pickups London. The will meet you at the airport and bring you to your hotel or the cruise port. Of course not being familiar with this all; I will have to trust they are reliable.

:) Thank you for this information. It certainly is very helpful.

Its me again. We booked this Nov 3., cruise but are stymied on how to get to the port in Southampton from LHR. We don’t mind taking a private car or anything but are unfamiliar with the system. Not wanting to haul our luggage up and down stairs, we need to know how to do this without a big hassle. Anyone have a suggestion? kiud.1@aol.com.

Does anyone know an easy way to go from London to the port of Southampton? We actually need a hotel in London
from Nov. 1-3. Any suggestions? We thought of the train, but not sure of the locations.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just want to have a comfortable seats that will really recline and foot rests. Either premium economy, business, or first class. I am going on a cruise and would like to keep the air under $500.00. I might be dreaming.

I am trying to find an affordable flight to LHR from Tampa in November. Any suggestions?;)

Does anyone that was on this cruise remember the name of the group’s website? They were December ’63.:)

No need to repeat your question elsewhere. Yes. The walls are metal.
Thank you for this info.

We always bring magnate hooks and use them all over the walls to hang things and clip important papers so they are easily found. Do celebrity ships have metal walls? We usually go on Royal Caribbean and they have that. I would like to know prior to this cruise because we are flying to this port.

As usual CruiserBruce has it right.
I also think the walls will have metal but as CruiserBruce mentioned best to ask on the Celebrity Board.
Keith
I am new to this forum. How do I do that?

Does anyone know if the cabins on Celebrity ships have metal walls like Royal Caribbean? The reason I ask is because we always bring magnetic hooks to put along the walls for extra space.

We are arriving in LHR Nov 1, and staying at the Doubletree on John Islip for two nights. We want to get some rest before the cruise, and take a City Tour of london. We Don’t have any of our connections set up yet. Where are you from? We are in New Port Richey, Fl.
