  1. Just returned from our trip on the Allure....one of our ports was Roatan. We booked with Victor for the Best of Roatan tour. Victor was so great in setting up exactly what we wanted. He kept in touch with us up to our cruise date via email. He met us at the port personally which as an owner of a company, makes a huge impact on your customers.

Our tour guide was Lany. From the minute we met Lany, we knew this would be one of the highlights of our trip. Lany has lived on the island his entire life and was so full of information. My husband loves to learn about the country we are visiting and Lany was able to answer every question and really teach us about the island. Lany was very attentive to our needs and made sure we had the best time. We went to a beach for lunch and a swim. We invited Lany to join us as we felt more like friends than tour guide / customer. Lany made us feel safe at all times and made sure we were aware of how to respond to the locals selling wares on the beach. The visit to the Monkey Farm was a blast!! I loved the monkeys and their inquisitiveness. They are not afraid to check you out! The sloths....a once in a life time experience. Who gets to say they held a sloth??? The birds and other animals were beautiful. There are so many excursions to look at but I honestly can't say enough about what a great time we had.

  2. Wow! This conversation needs to end IMO....it's a cruise!! A vacation!!! FUN!!! EXCITEMENT!!! We leave tomorrow for Fort Lauderdale Florida and sail on Sunday! I'm just blessed we get to do this! Everyone take a big deep breath and imagine yourselves on board, drink in hand, sailing the seas....in whatever you want to wear.

  3. We are going to Nachi Cocom next week on our RCI cruise. I contacted Nachi Cocom to ask about the sea weed and if their beaches were affected. I was assured there is no sea weed on their beach. That made my day!!

  4. We leave in a week for our Western Caribbean cruise on RCI. We have almost all our excursions planned...but do to all of the reports of stinky sea grass, we are trying to find something to do in Costa Maya.

Does anyone know if Pleasure Beach is affected? Also...has anyone done this excursion? I need to book soon, so quick answers would be greatly appreciated!!

  5. Thank you for your amazing review and photo's!! We sail on the Allure in 10 days. I am confused about a few things...I noticed prices on the menu for the specialty restaurants. I purchased 2 dinner packages...one at Chops and the other at the Japanese rest. Do we pay in addition to our charges or is it like the MDR and we just order what we want? I also purchased the drink package. I read that it only goes up to $13, yet there is not one glass of wine that is under on average $17. Did you find that to be the case? Last question....how do you know what restaurants are included in your cruise and which ones you have to pay for? It seems like there isn't a lot of "free" food and the drinks are over the set $13. Thanks again!!

  6. We are on the Allure 8/12 in a GS. We haven't received anything at all from RCI. I'm a little disappointed since we are spending quite a bit of $$$ and some sort of acknowledgement or maybe some type of instructions would be nice. However, I am getting a dozen emails a day for "deals" on our cruise....???? Thank goodness for CC and Pintrest to know what to expect. Hopefully service will be better once on the ship.

  7. I just upgraded from a balcony room to a GS on Allure. I couldn't pass it up. My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary and we never had a honeymoon. All of our travel is either visiting family or work travel. This is a treat for us. With that said...I can't seem to find exactly what we get with the GS on Allure...not even on RC website. We already purchased the drink package (it was BOGO) and dining in 2 specialty restaurants. I read we get free internet, priority boarding. I have no idea what the concierge service entails. I couldn't find anything about the coastal restaurant. Is there someone I can call to find out how to maximize all our extra perks? This is my husbands first cruise and my 3rd (long weekenders on Carnival). How do I let the staff know we are celebrating our anniversary? Are there special perks in the spa? We are sailing on August 12th to Western Caribbean. Any help from past Allure cruisers would be awesome!

  8. I have searched everywhere for this and haven't seen a specific answer. We are on the Allure, sailing this August. We have a stateroom with an "extra long balcony" ocean view. Everything has been paid off. I really want to surprise my husband with an upgrade to a suite. I went to the RC site for booking a cruise on this exact trip, looked at the cost for a jr. suite and the Grand Suite. My question....does RC take what I have paid and then take the current cost for that particular suite and A-B=C?

I ask this because we did not get the BOGO deal since we used our Amex points, but technically we paid the full price at the time. Which I have to admit is considerably lower than the prices now. Supply vs demand?

So...what is the best way to go about upgrading to a suite without robbing the bank? Thanks in advance!!
