    Glad to answer any questions!

Hi I just want to thank you for your info as it helped me decide to wait till I get there and search out a tour. Thanks also for sharing pictures on your blog.

Cruise from Barcelona to Rome on Princess crown Sept. 15, 2018

    Can't wait!! Our first time:cool:

  2. How do you start a meet & mingle? I sail on September 15, 2018 on Princess Crown out of Barcelona, Spain? and I would like to get to know some other ship mates.

I am new to this and this is my first cruise.

    Cheers

  3. I just want to thank you all for your wonderful suggestions!! It has given me options that I did not know was available so I am now able to make a better decision. I would love to swim at the beach at Cinque Terre but may end up going with Barcelona because I have more time there. We will see!! So excited for this trip!!

  4. Hi Folks,

I have searched several times for transfer for round trip from Livorno port to Florence but of the three I have requested information from, none have responded. I am looking to share a transfer with two other couples and my husband. Does anyone have any recommendations? If not we may do the cruise line transfer or the train.

Thank you for your suggestions in advance.

  5. What would make a place good for swimming to you? I can think of places with fairly large sandy beaches, or others with smaller, rocky beaches but beautiful clear water and few other swimmers, as well as highly commercialized beaches with rented sun beds, clean changing rooms and bathrooms, full bar and restaurant service, etc. Which among them would be best for you would depend on what's important to you.

I am looking for something that is easy to get to via public transport and if we chose to swim on the day we embark in Barcelona, it would be nice if it were not too far from port. Clean changing rooms/bathrooms and restaurants near would also be great! I was mostly looking to swim in Barcelona but did not know what was available in other ports. Is there anything near Cinque Terre? We plan to take the train from Genoa to CT.

Thanks for everyone's comments and suggestions I really appreciate it.

  6. We are traveling to Barcelona, Spain on 9-13-18 and then board the Princess Crown on 9-15-18 traveling to the following ports: Gibraltar, Marseille, Genoa, Florence and Civitavecchia where we disembark. This is my first cruise and trip to Europe and want to swim in the Mediterranean sea. Any suggestions?

  7. I live on the Big Island. The port is about 3 miles to the airport where most of the rental cars are.

If you did not stop, you could drive the whole island in 5 hours.

Volcano national park is 30 miles from Hilo.

If you want to stay in Hilo area things to see: to Rainbow falls, Liliuokalani Gardens, Richardson's Beach Park with black sand about 1.5 miles from the port, Big Island Candies, Bay Front King Kamehameha Statue and Wailoa Art Center.

North of Hilo less than 30 miles is Umauma Falls with a maze and ziplining, Akaka Falls, Onomea scenic route with Botanical Gardens.

South you can go to Kalapana and see where the lava has covered the area and walk to the new black sand beach. Go to Pohoiki for the Lava boat tour

  8. All of these things can easily be visited by renting a car...have you considered that option?

It’s been my experience that touring by car from Hilo has been the easiest of the islands to do. We’ve never paid more than $40 to rent a car including as recently as in January 2017.

I have lived on the Big Island for over 40 years and it is really easy to drive. So much cheaper to rent a car and use a GPS. But if you like being with a lot of other people and have a scheduled route a tour may be better for you but much more costly.

Farmers Market in Hilo is a must see on Wed. and Sat.

If you go up to Volcano Natl Park at night you don't have to pay the entrance fee and can see the lava in Kilauea Crater.

A friend who was visiting did the boat tour of the lava flowing into the sea but was not happy because the water was so rough he could not get a picture.

Weather matters here. Layer up and have a hat or umbrella and sun screen even on an overcast day when the UV rays are magnified. If you have anymore questions ask.
