As a frequent cruiser out of Auckland we pre-book at http://www.supershuttles.co.nz - it is about $35NZ for the two of us to the airport. We book with them as they have staff on the wharf coordinating the shuttles on disembarkation day and pump the people through. They normally have 3-4 shuttles at a time and just keep them coming.
The reason to pre-book (and pay) is so you skip the queue and go straight to the front of the line! The website doesn't have a cruise specific location but put in Queens Wharf (there is a couple of options but just pick any - it doesn't matter) and a semi logical time. As it is a cruise the time / location doesn't matter as it is not like they are coming just for you.
The other advantages are free wifi and that they take the bus lanes - so a quicker trip to the airport.
We took a tour off the ship in Auckland. Toured a museum and a couple of really neat parks. Driver was very informative. Once the tour was over he took us to the airport. It was a good way to spend our time seeing the city and not spending a lot of time in the airport. Of course it all depends on what time your flight leaves.

This is the second thread this week about "saining" on a ship. Is there a new verb of which I am not aware? Or perhaps this is ancient mariner language? haha
‘‘Tis a Scottish word for blessing or consecrating.

Just a thought: could it have been the previous SS Rotterdam (pre-1997) that was less than 750 feet?
In any case: even if HAL doesn't have a ship available that can dock in Hamilton doesn't mean that they won't decide to sail something there that has to go out to the Dockyard. It would be hard to compete with the big ships though.
We did the TA to Dover in May on the Prinsendam and docked at Hamilton.

We just left Amsterdam June2 off the Prinsendam. We carried our luggage off, caught a taxi and were the airport by 8. Long security lines but we had plenty of time for our 11:30 flight. The cost was 80 Euro’s . Holland does a good job with transfers but after a month, we had enough of the bus riding.

Suggestion for HAL: swap Tamarind and Club Orange
in Holland America Line

We really like the Tamarind in its current location. I really don’t see the value for CO but about 12 people did on our last cruise.
