  1. I got the offer for my 12/17 Enchantment 4 day cruise (Spacious OV Balcony - 3B) and the minimum bids are:

    JS: $200

    GS: $250

    OS: $350

    RS: $800

When searching for rooms, only the JS is showing as available at this time. Not bidding as we have added on an extra night in Orlando so we can go to Universal Studios before heading back home.

For 2 adults and a 12 year old (Kids Sail Free), we paid about $1800 after pre-paid gratuities, taxes, and fees. An additional $500 minimum bid (plus taxes, fees, additional gratuities) for a GS with no benefits just doesn't seem worth it to me.

They used to allow “stacking” of benefits... last cruise we got 10% off, and 2 $100 OBC.  We book directly with RCI.

however, when I read the new rules, I think we might just get one promtion.  We will try to get 10% off from me, and $100 OBC from DH, but not sure if we can make that happen.  What I do know is that MyVEGAS was very responsive in the past, and worked with us to give points back when we tried to renew too much back.  They were great!

For our upcoming cruise, my husband and I each used a $100 OBC reward. We each followed the instructions to redeem with RCCL, with me sending my email one day and him the next. No issues and the $200 OBC was showing in my cruise planner to use. It has been several months since we did this, so I do not know if there have been changes since, but it worked then!

I have not been to the museum but have read some reviews on this site and on trip advisor and it sounds like a child who like pirates would enjoy it.

I also was reading through some CC threads and one mentioned taking their 3 year old who thoroughly enjoyed it. My 42 year old child (aka husband) is really excited about it too!

  4. We opted instead to go to Bay Steer one block over and visit the actual storefronts where my wife shopped for some more Alex and Ani bracelets (like she doesn't have enough), Pandora and tee shirts and a couple of souvenirs and gifts for her parents. It was very hot and humid so after a couple of hours of shopping we headed back to the ship around noon to enjoy lunch and a less crowded ship overall since many were off board.

You probably don't know the answer to this, but your wife might... Does the Alex & Ani store there have any bracelets with Bahamas specific charms? I got my first Alex & Ani bracelet in Las Vegas and am always on the hunt for location specific charms.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. Your review was well written and makes me more excited for my December cruise on Enchantment!

  5. I've really enjoyed reading your packing list. It's nice to know I'm not the only one that obsesses over the planning and packing for trips. My OCD gets the best of me and I always have spreadsheets for our itinerary (hourly and color coded by activity), spending (including any savings), packing lists, and print outs of every flight confirmation, rental car confirmations, addresses, important phone numbers, etc. All of the information for any given trip is filed away in its own folder on my cloud drive, along with the photos from the trip. This satisfies my obsessiveness and makes it easy to refer back to the trip later.

I have yet to begin my lists and spreadsheets for my December cruise, but I think your list has given me the motivation I need to get started!

You have my sympathies for your loss.

I hope you both make a lot of happy memories on your cruise!

  6. I managed to get started on my online checkin a few days ago but ever since I get the 'this reservation is being modified' message! Aaaaargh! Funny thing is, if I want to buy something I have no problem getting into the Cruise planner.........

Does anyone from RC really read these boards?

I couldn't get in to make a payment or look at cruise planner, so when I called for assistance, I was treated as if I was a child that was being punished for talking in line because I hadn't logged out of my account (I just closed the tab, which in RCCL world is apparently a big no no). According to whoever I talked to, it's to keep people from making changes to one aco**** at the same time from multiple devices. Makes sense, but to me, it goes back to incompetent IT department.

I've had to go so far as to clear the cache and cookies on all my devices and start over from the beginning to get it working properly again. It really shouldn't be this difficult and a continuous inconvenience for customers. I'm guessing that it's not a big concern for their customer service department.

  7. I bought drink packages a couple weeks ago and the refreshment package price dropped $8/day with the "sale." We only got that package for my husband, but when I bought it, it was $26/day, so I'm going to call and refund it then repurchase at the lower price and save myself the $32+ 18% gratuity charge.

They have the most screwed up pricing methods I've ever seen.

  8. Bob,

I booked a cruise online last night. Its my first time with the new system. Does it really take 24 hrs now for the new booking to show up? I have tried to "link a missing cruise" and it just says " the reservation number you have entered is incorrect". I did call but they said to allow 24 hrs. Just wondered if that was the norm now. Thanks always for your help!!

I had the same question when I originally booked back in March for a December cruise. It took 3 days for the booking to show up and even then, only randomly when I would log in. The latest thing is that NONE of the pre-cruise planner options I purchased in April are showing up in cruise planner, but when I called today to add the drink packages (alcohol for me, none for my hubby, and just soda for my daughter), the lady that helped me could see it on her end. I thought I made a screenshot of the purchase when I did it, but I guess I didn't. As long as they can see the purchases on their end, and it shows up when we embark, I'll be alright.

My husband works in IT and their site infuriates him. They have one of the worst IT departments on the planet. It's not difficult to give a new site a test drive on a non-live machine to make sure it work before going live with it, but with all the mishaps I've seen in the past few months, you'd think it was 5th graders new to coding that were "fixing" the website.

  9. The only cruise I've been on was in December 2001 to the Bahamas. I don't do cold water, and while I can't remember exactly what the water temperature was, I snorkeled and enjoyed it. It definitely wasn't so cold that I couldn't tolerate it. It looks like December average water temperature is 75-78° with average highs/lows being 79/63.

  10. The funny thing is I took pictures of when I saw the gauge reading 1/4 tank and when I dropped it off.

They even put the wrong mileage on the receipt so when I showed them the receipt at the airport the woman I spoke too told me I had pictures from another car and not the one I was driving.

Like I am walking around taking pictures of random cars dashboards hoping I find one with similar mileage so I can beat a gas charge.

There were a lot of us waiting for cars. When somebody dropped a car off the literally took the keys off of them and gave them to somebody who was waiting.

The cars weren't getting cleaned and obviously weren't getting checked in properly.

    Bill

Wow. I hope the OP has better luck than that.

  11. YIKES!

Just did this yesterday after our cruise on the Oasis. All I can say is good luck.

We didn't get there til about 10am after waiting for the shuttle. It only holds 11 people.

Drove out of there about 11am.

Didn't have the car I reserved so gave us a minivan. They said it had a full tank of gas.

After i left I noticed that it only had 1/4 of a tank. Before I returned it I filled it back up to 1/4 tank.

When I returned the car I was charged about $145 for not returning it full.

Maybe you'll have better luck if you get there that early. Just make sure the tank is full before you pull out.

On google maps they have 137 reviews. There are more 1 star reviews than any other.

    Bill

I had a similar issue with a budget car in San Diego a few years back. I ended up on a lengthy phone call because I was also given a partial tank of gas. Their suggestion was to take a picture of the gauge showing how full (or empty) the tank was and to fill up to same on return. Maybe they should just fill it up right the first time. That was our last rental with them.

After that incident, I began to notice a lot of negative reviews like you mentioned.

Their prices are usually good, but one must be prepared for a fight if charged for gas, so make sure when you pick it up, you take a picture of the gauge and note it on the slip.
