  1. I hope u r not serious about thinking it was a gift??? If he didn't speak English than he shouldn't be working on a cruise ship which sails from AMERICA!! And you know that throwing it in the garbage can is not even remotely the same as the worker knowingly keeping it..I wasn't looking for sympathy...but I wasn't looking for obnoxious comments either!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

You're kidding, right?? Ahhh nevermind. This isn't worth a response. Like I said have fun on your next carnival cruise. Hopefully they are all American.

  2. Perhaps the maintenance worker didn't speak English and didn't understand why your son was giving him a watch. He probably thought it was a gift. Either way your son stole something and should be accountable. Meaning whether he had possession or not. If he threw it in a trash can and the can was emptied, would you blame the worker who was doing his job??

Have fun on your next carnival cruise.

  3. Well I don't see any reason why you couldn't.

Even better idea .. just call RC a day or two ahead and tell them what you wanna do ... and have them call ahead to the Pilot Boat so they can expect you ... they can ride you out there in the wee hours, meet the ship and ride in with it !

Or better yet, request a helicopter to take you out and land you right on the heliport!

After all, Lucy Ricardo managed to make this work, no reason why you can't!

And don't let them tell you "NO" either!

Jahahahahahaha! This is such a good idea!!

Is the OP serious?? Maybe this is a hidden camera thread to see how many people will fall for this nonsense.

  4. My family will be traveling on the Allure in May and my father has to use a heating pad as well. He emailed the Access Staff Department (special_needs@rccl.com) and was told that since it is needed for a medical reason it would be allowed. The only caveat was that the heating pad had to have an one/off switch. Hope this helps!

I would bring a doctors note just in case security finds it.

  5. Thanks wingnutphl!

I'm on the same sailing at rec625 and our sailing seemed to sell out very early. I was hoping to see a price drop, but instead the price DOUBLED! Glad I booked so early!!

I REALLY hope they don't schedule the 70s party and Quest on the same night on our cruise. What horrible planning to put two such popular events on the same night!! Kind of takes all the momentum out of the 70s party if everyone has to leave early to go to Quest! Plus, then I'll be playing quest in my 70s clothes!!

Hahaha I had my 70's clothes on including foxy brown wig. Needless to say when I had to sizzle like bacon at quest, my wig went flying. All worth is as we won! What we'll do for a 5 cent gold medal!!

  6. Hey, Wingnut...I have a question for you. Our roll call is having major headaches trying to figure out when the Muster Drill is. I have Cruise Compasses that list it at 5PM and a second one at 8PM for those who missed the first one. Other people report that prior San Juan radiance class departures have the Muster Drill at 7:45 PM. What time was yours? Do you have the Compass, is it listed twice? Thanks for any info! And thanks for your review! We have the cabin directly below the on you had...love that aft!!

Muster is at 8 pm and be warned it is outside. Also, they are very strict with muster. Security was going to cabins of people not there. Also, notes were left in the cabins of people they couldn't find.

  7. Thanks for the review. My first question is about the aft seating area. Did you find that space crowded or was it busy once it was discovered?

We never made it back there. We kept forgetting about it.

I just wanted to add: Being this (Trunk Bay) is part of the US NPS, access passes are honored like any on the mainland. On our last cruise, I used my Golden Access Pass and I think entrance was 1/2 off. I've mentioned this, in the past, and was surprised how many people didn't even think of it.;)

The park ranger told my friend she could not use her pass. Not sure what it was. Sounds like yours is different. Also, if you want the National Park stuff, you have to go to the visitor center by the ferry.

  8. Hi Dawn.

I think I've cruised with you before with Cruise Fools and Bubba Barry?

Anyways, did you just take a cab over to ShipWrecks on St Kitts. We took a tour that ended up there last year and may want to just hang there for the day when we cruise on JOS in Jan.

    Thanks, Michael.......

Hi Michael! Yes we did. We cruised on the Sovereign together.

Yes, we took a cab over and back. Prices ranged from $4 per person to $6.

  9. Can you answer a few questions?

    • Which nights were your formal nights?
    • Which night was 70s Party/Quest? Weird they'd put them on the same night. Both events tend to run late and are very popular.
    • Did they still have those after dinner liquors in the little souvenir shot glasses?

    Thanks!!

My apologies for not getting back sooner. That pesky work got in the way.

Formal nights for us were day 2 and day 4.

70's party/Quest were Halloween night for us (Curacao). Not sure if that is the norm.

I recall seeing them but we didn't get them so the bar waiter didn't come to our table.

  10. I didn't find there was much of a language barrier. There are always some that are rude and don't move when you say excuse me. I didn't pay attention to how many teens were on board. I saw a few when trying to navigate the stairs and they were sprawled all over them.

We only had the one excursion and it wasn't cancelled. Sorry I can't help you there.

I flew in the day of the cruise :eek: so no hotel stays. Last time we stayed at the Carib Hilton. It was very nice but that was 3 yrs ago.

  11. The Coastal Cruise part of it was ok. It was 30 mins. You can see all beaches from the ferry. Hmmm I wasn't paying attention to where we docked. It was near the National Park Visitor Center. They still combine all the tours and you have the option to get off if you don't want to do the coastal cruise part. Yes there were chair rentals but there was lots of shade and we spent our time in the water.

  12. Oh one more thing. The pools. The main pool was crowded on sea days. Nothing new when there are only 2 on the ship. We got there early and picked our seats and sat our butts in them. There was a lady in front of us holding 12 deck chairs. 3 of us went into the hot tub while 2 others were still sunbathing. We weren't even in the hot tub 5 mins when the police came to try to take our towels and bags. No one said anything to the lady holding the 12 chairs. Believe me I said something to her. Needless to say she got very huffy with me.

They should have been more diligent with the people in the pool and hot tubs. We saw many kids who were younger than 3 in the pool. And no they didn't even have on a swim diaper. Kids (and adults) were doing cannon balls into the pool. The few times I went through the Solarium I saw kids in there.

  13. We were on the Jewel in January of this year in the same cabin. My only complaint was that the frosted part of the divider was scrapped off by the railing so there was less privacy between the two balconies. Just wondering if they did anything to fix this or if it was still the same.

Looking forward to hearing more of your experiences!

I'm trying to remember. I recall it being more see through but didn't notice if it was scrapped off. We weren't doing anything on our balcony to worry about any way :p

  14. Aruba

We all took a taxi to Palm Beach for the day. Taxi's are about $20 per cab each way. Chairs were $10 each. Since we there were 10 of us, they gave us 4 floating mats for free. It was a beautiful day and I spent most of our time there floating in the water. We went back to the ship and some people went back out to have dinner in Aruba since we were there until 11 pm. Reminder to all visiting, shops close up at 6pm. The only thing open is the bars and casino.

    Curacao

Our only disappointing day. We woke up to rain. We were able to do a little shopping but for the most part, the day was a wash out. We wanted to head to Cabana Beach but the rain stopped that. Island tour was out as well since at times it was raining so hard you couldn't see anything out of the window.

    Final thoughts

We had a great cruise. Loved the itinerary and the ship. There are things that could have been better but I'm not going to let those few things spoil my vacation.

  15. St. Thomas

4 of us decided to head over to St. John for the day. We booked through Royal since it would cost about the same and the shuttle met us at the pier where the Jewel docked. Otherwise we would have to take a cab over to Red Hook to pick up the water taxi. The water was really choppy that day. It's a good thing none of us get sea sick lol

We were a little worried before the cruise since the government shutdown effected the national parks. I'm pretty sure we would have stormed the gates ;). Thankfully all was restored and we were able to spend the day at Trunk Bay. I can see why it's one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The taxi is $6 per person. Entrance fee is $4. Well worth the price!!!

    St. Kitts

I headed over to Shipwreck Bar/Beach to meet a friend cruising on the Summit also in port that day. Great little place to spend the day. The beach isn't that big but they have chairs and umbrellas. The sand is black with gold flecks. They have a bathroom facilities and a place to wash your feet off. Monkeys and mongoose (mongeese??) run wild there and seem to like their picture taken. Taxi's were easy to get and were about $5 per person each way.

    Next up Aruba/Curacao and final thoughts . . . .
