Thanks thesmiths!  Ours is in November - but I can't make up my mind which excursion I want to do!

I booked a private tour with them in September for my wife & I when we arrive on the Sunrise.

Cable Car first thing, maybe a few other quick stops and then to private beach for a nice lunch and few drinks.

They are very responsive to your emails..dealt with Lidia.

Check with Isaira Tours, I have been in contact with them about giving us a private tour with some city highlights and catered to some of our wants. They have been very prompt and helpful!

I feel bad though that we may not end up using them after all there help, but we may be meeting up with some American missionaries that live there instead.

Interested in your posting here, although it was a couple years old...Do those missionaries still work there - and are there still needs at the school?

I sailed the Holiday back in April '04, and am glad it is now a long ago memory.  I was disappointed with it then, seemed old, small, rusty and bouncy in the ocean.

But for others it may bring back fond memories, that's what's nice about cruising, there's a ship to fit any ones needs.

Okay, being a Navy vet, I will say that it was the motion that I most enjoyed.  However, I got treated a lot better on the white ships than I did on any gray ship! 🙂

  4. Yeah, she was old and small, but honestly that's what I liked!  Parked next to some of the larger cruise ships, we felt really small but I really enjoyed this class of ship.  I guess it's purely business that Carnival's ships are getting so big.

Considering a cruise on the Pacific Princess (the Love Boat) just to recapture that small ship experience...

So DH and I were toying with a Thanksgiving cruise but for several reasons now we're looking at an after Christmas, and I LOVE the itinerary of the Elation post-christmas with Amber Cove and Grand Turk, 2 stops we are interested in. However, I'm reading reviews of Elation and most of the Dec 2018 ones are bad. Really bad. Our only other cruise experience is on the Allure and I know that I can't compare as she's like the mother of all ships, but this time we're going child free. It's one of the only cruises that fits our timeline and goes places we want to see. But... I also know the possibility of being rerouted are there and being stuck at sea.

Is Elation really that bad as a ship? What are the possibilities of missing those ports? Should I scrap this all and book us a ski vacation that week? lol

Okay, I have two points to make about the cruise you are considering...both points are positive.

    1) My family has cruised on the Elation before, and it was a blast...we had a fantastic time in so many ways.

    2) I'm going to be on the cruise you are considering, so of course it will be great! 🙂

  6. Just wanted to check this out here: How many have stood out on the deck at Coz to watch people who are cutting it too close at departure time? The reason I ask is that it can be quite a show.

We will make our fourth trip into the area aboard the Carnival Sunshine - and have watched this on the Valor, the Holiday, and the Elation. It's sort of become a tradition.
