  1. After browsing through the excellent Copenhagen thread I thought about starting one for Iceland as well:

I'm a regular cruiser that lives in Reykjavik, Iceland and not affiliated with any tour companies. So if you have any questions about the Icelandic ports of call and surrounding attractions feel free to ask.

    Main port: Reykjavik (Capital).

Secondary ports: Akureyri (largest town in the north of Iceland), Seydisfjordur (a small town on the east coast) and Isafjordur (a town in the rugged northwestern part of Iceland).

Loved Iceland. Went in May 2016 and drove the circle tour around the island. Seydisfjordur was great. What a view from above! Only disappointment was the restaurant we planned on having lunch was closed. Just ate at a gas station nearby. Looking forward to this cruise in 2019. Want to see Akureyri again. Still thinking about what to do in Reykjavik.

  2. The new website is a remarkable improvement over what was already a decent website, but one clearly in need of some updating with regard to visuals and interactivity. I'm quite impressed by the dynamic nature of the new website. It is substantially more attractive, with bright, big, vivid photos.

The portion of the website within which one books a cruise used to look like it was from the early 2010s; now it looks like it belongs in 2018. The new itinerary navigators are absolutely excellent. The integration with AFAR content is much better than before. The website is now substantially easier to use on far more form factors than before, thereby broadening the scope of potential passengers that can make use of it.

The upgrade has turned what used to be quite a slow, clunky experience - on desktop or tablet or phone - into something that has much more promotional value (which is, incidentally, what a website is for). The search engine is more responsive than before, and the filters less glitchy. I cannot wait until this new website design makes it back into the Already Booked portion of the website, which still presents the old and tired website design.

Most importantly, this website upgrade is going to make the cruise line far more attractive to the passengers it actually needs to attract and impress for its long-term survival.

It is a shame that so many of you have chose to set yourself against it.

Agree. Let’s look at the positives

  3. Talked to customer service on March 30th. They have rolled out the new web site to only 10% of their users. They are aware of the glitches and working on them. Hope to have it working smoothly in a few days. I am on3 of the 10%, so I was confused when others didn’t see what I was seeing. I see a change in my itinerary for Sep 3, 2019 cruise, but those with old site didn’t. Actually, there is no change. I also can not see my booking. I was told all we be fixed in a few days. Another cruise line I use rolled out a new site over a year ago and they still have glitches. Hopefully HAL will get it right ina few days.

  4. The Aria is a great boat. We went on the Great Rivers last May and were on the Aria. It is newer than Rhaposdy etc. The thing we liked the best were the 2 small lounges just above reception. One was a card and game rooom and the other a library. We went there to consume our "beverages" which we brought from home so as not to be in the bar area. The cabins were also nicer. The crew was outstanding---the best we have had in 4 trips. We signed up for the Black Sea trip and at the time were on the Area. We received a letter saying that we were now on the Adagio, whihc is the same layout. At a GCT brunch in Ft. Lauderale they said that the Aria had been leased out. I am glad that it is back. If you need any other info jut let me know, We leave May 5 for the Black Sea---river trip #5.

My wife and I will also be on the Adagio in May. We fly to Bucharest May 8th, but we are not doing the pre-trip. My in-laws have been on the Adagio and it is very similar to the Aria. Last April, Nancy and I were on the Concerto in Amsterdam and Brussels. Springtime was gorgeous.

We are so looking forward to this trip, since we have not been to any of these countries. My in-laws did this trip a couple of years ago and loved it.:D
