  1. We recently stayed at the hyatt house which was very very nice.

We used uber to get from airport to hotel and hotel to port.

Port is only 5 minutes ride from hotel.

I am currently planning a couples vacation with my wife and my brother and his wife. We are currently booked on RCCL in December, but plan on flying in the day before. I have scoured the web for places to stay, things to do, and ways to travel to each place. I think I have lost most of my hair and am going cross-eyed from researching this, so I am reaching out for help.

1st- I have currently booked a room/s at the Marriot Isla Verde for our pre-cruise hotel. Good, bad, indifferent on this hotel? Is the airport an issue? Seems like a good location to the airport and the beach, but not sure about the location for activities beyond the beach.

2nd- What is the best way to get from the airport to the hotel, whether the Marriot or another one? Taxi, private shuttle or car service? What is the approximate costs for a Taxi to the Marriot for 4 people?

3rd- What is the best way to get to the Pan American Pier?

4th- Best activities to do in San Juan for a half day adventure without breaking the bank?

Please help if you can. Looking for any advice. I can not afford to lose anymore hair, a burnt scalp will not make for a fun vacation.:(

Thank you for all your help.

  2. Sorry to hear. We were there for spring break and had no issue around 11 am at the port

    Embarkation

We recently sailed on the Adventure of the Seas out ofPuerto Rico. Had a great time on theship but was very disappointed at the process to get on the ship.

We stayed overnight at a hotel on Friday night and took ataxi to the port around 11:00am. When wegot there we were told to stand in a long line with our luggage (not thecarry-on). Now having been on many RCCL cruises in thepast, luggage is always taken as soon as you arrive by the porters. Everyone was very confused by what washappening, no good signage anywhere, and not real definitive “line”. Also there were no RCCL representativesaround to help out, only the porters. Theline was facing the port check in. We waited about 20 minutes and then they reversedthe line away from the port check to the other end.

This must be a common occurrence because now there arevendors selling water and Italian ice.

Now remember more people are getting dropped off as we waitwith no direction. They start takingbags at the back but by this time there are two lines trying to merge intoone. Another 30 minutes waiting in thatline to give them our luggage.

Finally complete weenter the port, go through the metal detector, and get our sea pass cards.

I hate to say this as I love the itinerary, it will be along time before I sail out of Puerto Rico again.
