Mine was fluctuating between $66 and $69 for months.

I just checked my Mariner cruise for July. It was $69 last week, yesterday it jumped to $72, it's now $78.Â
Same for my mariner cruise in Sept.

I dont think there are limits anymore. We were on a full odyssey cruise on the 26th. Expect it to be full.

We left Cozumel before 6 pm yesterday.  The ship has slight movement yesterday and this morning. It’s not making us feel ill however we notice the swaying.
ÂThere is one part of the ship that’s not accessible.Â
The solarium which is 3 tiers has an accessible lift chair for getting into the whirlpool. However, there is NO ramp (only stairs) to reach the whirlpool.Poor design…..
We were on this ship last week to southern caribbean and the ship rocked the entire time. The seas weren't that rough.

Think this might delay any kind of soft reopen?

And i just booked an Allure cruise specifically because it stopped in both of those ports - two free beach days and two been there, done that, not getting off the ship days. 0$$ spent at tourist trap ports = priceless😀
Hell yeah, I want to take a cruise that does both those stops so bad.

Except the math doesn't work as well on shore days. Unless you're at one of the "private islands," your drink package doesn't follow you to shore. If you spend all day on land, then to "get your money's worth" you either need to slam a bunch of booze down that night, or drink more on average during sea days.
Â
Every single time we cruise my wife and I consider the beverage package, but for the amount we drink - - especially considering that stuff like wine pairings/etc aren't included - - it's just never made sense, even counting the coffee.
Â
Yeah you are absolutely correct about port days. But even then, its really not that hard to say you had a drink at breakfast, couple glasses of wine with dinner and maybe a late night cocktail or 2 right? That doesnt seen excessive to me and pretty much hits the drink package right there.

@Bearsfan82 you can take it even further and subtract the difference between the refreshment pkg and the alcohol pkg and I think it's like 3 drinks and 4 beers a day. Most people do drink bottled water and sodas also.
Yeah exactly my point. There really shouldnt be a motivation to get your monies worth by over drinking for that reason. Over drink because you like it not because you dont want to waste money.

Give it a week, there wont be a port in the world not compromised

When I was in college back in the Reagan years bars used to have "Drink or Drown." For five bucks you got four of five hours of free alcohol. I would pay a dollar for a longneck because the cups of draft were so awful. I think the state Beverage Control finally banned this, just as many states ban the advertisement of "happy hours." The idea is that those who serve alcohol should not do so in a way that encourages over-consumption.
Â
Unfortunately, that's what the cruise line drink packages do. One has to drink quite a bit to get one's money's worth, and there's just a tendency to drink more when you've already plunked down a substantial sum of money for unlimited alcohol. Having these drink packages is just bad policy.
Â
As for allowing family members or friends to "flag" those who might be drinking too much, there is a problem, in that there is little agreement on how much is "too much." It might have been obvious in your case, but just as sure as they put the policy into effect someone would be reported for having three drinks in one day.
Lets say on average you pay $60 dollars a day for the drink package. I realize some get it even cheaper but lets just say $60. At $12 dollars per cocktail thats only 5 drinks a day to hit that price point to break even. At $7 a beer thats roughly 9 beers a day. To me, the 5 cocktails is not quite a bit for a whole day. Lets say 2 mimosa or blood marys for breakfast, maybe a cocktail during the day, and a couple drinks at night. Really doesnt take much to hit the drink package price

We were on adventure in May and much to our surprise, the attendants in the solarium were hyper vigilant about chair hogs on sailing days. 30 minutes on the dot, stuff was removed. Really put the cherry on top of that wonderful cruise

I believe shakes are now included in the Refeshment and Deluxe packages. However, some ships may require a food purchase in order to get a "free" shake.
Â
Yeah a food order was required the last time I got a shake there on Allure
-
It wouldn’t be feasible to meet demand if didn’t offer it only to people dining in. Hopefully they still allow one to buy a shake from bar. It’s a one per cruise thing for me but would be abused and shared if everyone with package could get one the wait for one for those dining would be crazy.

Yeah those shakes are definitely a once per cruise treat.
-
Â
That I cant tell you as we had a meal. I did not go back later to have just a milkshake.
-
Ha! I was on the Allure in April and we got milkshakes for free because we had the deluxe drink package and no one on here believed me.
-
I think it would be a cool "back in time" addition to the Boardwalk. I am not old enough to have ever visited a Woolworth's counter, I am only 42, but if nostalgia or a 50's vibe is what they are going for then I think it would be a great idea.
Â
We had a woolworths with a diner up until the late 80s early 90s in my home town in vermont. Would love to see this on the boardwalk.
-
Guess it wasnt that rare then huh?
-
Shakes have never been included in any beverage package.
Â
I dont know what to tell you, we were just on there 2 weeks ago and never charged for a milkshake. Waiter said it was because of the drink package.
-
The shakes in JR are included in the ultimate drink package too fwiw
-
I was on this same cruise and ate there but it was only $9.95?

Just got off Allure of the seas yesterday and a woman had a small dog in a stroller. Saw her and the dog all over the ship. Heard from another guest that she was arguing with a staff member that the area for the dog to do its business was not good enough.
Got to love it when Royal cancels your cruise
