So it is 1 day before embarkation and I haven't heard anything on my counter-offer bid that I received on Tuesday.  Both my original bid, and my new counter-offer bid (which they fixed the price), show as pending still.  There are no indications that they are moving forward with my bid (cc charge, status change, etc.).  I am assuming at this point it is unlikely that they are going to take my counter-offer bid, or the original bid (different cabin category). They say that the bids can be accepted up to 1-day before departure in the terms and conditions, but I am not holding my breath.   The problem I am experiencing is the extra anxiety that this causes. I am happy wth my original cabin, but the counter-offer to a Window Suite, from my forward-facing Mini-Suite, was appealing to us for 10 sea-days out of 15 on a roundtrip to Hawaii.   I keep checking my phone for emails, cc charges, and my Princess account way too often.   I am not sure this is worth it.  For reference, attached is my counter-offer, which I accepted.

It says attempt unfortunately:(.   What happened ?

  2. As one of those “sanctuary runners” I was originally excited to hear they had expanded the Sanctuary and added more beds ….  However, the non suite side is looking less and less like a Sanctuary and $99pp/pd x 2 is way out of our budget ( on a 7 day cruise we were happy to pay $30pp/pd for 6 days and have spent so many wonderful days relaxing up there!!   We have the signature suite booked for our sailing on the Sun in December and booked it so we didn’t have to make the usual run up the stairs.   It will be interesting to see what happens over the summer and if padded chairs arrive and they put less chairs there.  Maybe they are testing the waters so to speak.

Hello! We are currently on the Caribbean Princess doing a back-to-back Eastern/Western Caribbean Cruise - We had booked a similar itinerary on the Sky Princess for March 2020 that was cancelled due to Covid two days before we were to set sail.  We are finally taking that cruise! We have taken quite a few Princess Cruises - We are platinum members - almost elite - and we have cruised on other lines as well so we are somewhat experienced when it comes to cruising …

in anticipation of this cruise I started watching YouTube videos - my there are a lot of talented people out there giving us all advice - Thank you to all of those folks!

it seemed the consensus - at least from the people whose videos I watched - was that the Sanctuary was well worth the extra cost. Soooo … on embarkation day, my husband and I raced up to the Sanctuary as soon as we boarded the ship so that we could make our reservations. We were #20 and we were in the first boarding group so we were surprised so many people beat us here. Anyways, as we waited for our number to be called the person who appeared to be in charge announced that all of the lounge chairs had already been sold out for the sea days. We were then informed that they had some clam shells left - not our first choice as we love the sun and were hoping for loungers on the deck in the sunshine, but we decided to give the clam shells a try.

Today, our first sea day, we went to the Sanctuary at 1:00 pm. There were still people in the clamshell we had reserved and we were asked to wait a few minutes. At about 1:05, we were shown to our clamshell. Shortly thereafter we were handed a menu and our lunch order was taken. We each ordered a bento box and a drink. At about 2 pm we finally received our drinks - We had seriously considered ordering drinks through the medallion class app by that point. We still waited quite some time for our Bento Boxes, which were very tasty when they finally did arrive. But by that point, we were really thinking the upcharge is not worth it. No one came to ask if we wanted anything else so we did end up ordering drinks on the app and they arrived promptly, which was pretty impressive. Again we thought the Sanctuary really is not worth it. But as I started writing this, it was afternoon tea time - (I had forgotten that was served in the Sanctuary) We had a very attentive server who offered sandwiches, pastries, tea and coffee. It was very nice.

We have the Sanctuary booked already for our next sea day as well - Are we excited about that? I would have to say no. We were not able to reserve the lounge chairs we would have much preferred to the clam shells and really the service has not been what we expected.

Are the clam shells in the Sanctuary adjustable?  Can you move the attached sun shades?  Thanks

Entering or leaving Canada by cruise ship during COVID-19

Travellers entering Canada must follow the rules set out by the Emergency Orders under the Quarantine Act and Interim Orders under the Canada Shipping Act to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and its variants.

These measures also apply to those joining vessels from within Canada that will go into international waters.

    Before boarding the ship

All travellers must be fully vaccinated with limited exemptions.

    Take a pre-embarkation COVID-19 test.

Use ArriveCAN to enter your information, including proof of vaccination, within 72 hours before embarkation of your cruise.

Contact your cruise line about their boarding policies.

You must have no signs or symptoms of COVID-19.

    On arrival to Canada

Have your ArriveCAN receipt and proof of vaccination, and be sure to have the information available for 14 days after your arrival in Canada.

    …………….

Given the above I understand I need to complete Arrivecan BEFORE embarking in Vancouver.   The last sentence above seems to imply that I use THAT embarkation receipt when I return to Vancouver from my Alaska round trip.  Or do I need to complete another one within72 hour of my return?

I agree that we need to complete arrive can before embarking and then do another new entry when arriving back into Canada

Scenario....you test positive and have quarantined for 5 days on ship.  Do Canadians still need to quarantine for another 6 days before flying home

or has that changed since we no longer need to produce a negative test to board the return flight?

Canadians still 10 days after PCR is positive. Day 1 is the day after the result.

Not here. People I know did 5 day quarantine, tested negative & back to work on Day 6 in Ontario

It’s 14 days  if you fly into Canada then text positive - federal government rules over province rules.  I was positive 2 days later  and had to isolate for 10 days and my mom who travelled with me was 14 days !  Hoping that changes soon!!

  7. The 14 days isolation for close contacts is the same for anyone entering Canada.  If you drive or fly to Canada then one of the travellers gets Covid they isolate for 10 days but the others will isolate for 14 days unless they then get Covid when the 10 day rule applies.   I know because I have just done the 10 day and my husband and mother did the 14 day!!   They never caught it from me !

Thank you. Definitely more the case that I am in the perhaps unique position of having close contact with someone from the last cruise.

Of course that makes sense - fingers crossed for you both to stay well and enjoy the cruise
