I haven’t been yet but have a 15yo son - late July 2018. He has chosen the whale watch in Juneau (he wasn’t really interested in the glacier) - I was but I’ve picked all the excursions so left it up to him. I’ve booked heli dog sledding in Skagway & Neets Bay bear watching in Ketchikan. I’ve booked these as it’s highly unlikely I will ever be back.

Great suggestion :)
Great suggestion. There is also a cube that can be used to place in front of the cabin door that can make it a little more challenging to open the cabin door.
FWIW: I also suffer from sleep walking and other issues and my DW and I have agreed that when it happens on a ship (and it has) for her to wake me ASAP. Turning on a light has worked so far for me.
The cabins are small so locking the door and removing the key and placing it somewhere safe (like locked in the cabin safe) should suffice. Even if your son is sleeping next to the door, he would have to walk to the other end of the cabin, open the closet door, key in the safe code, open the safe, retrieve the key, walk back to the balcony door, pull back the drapes, and then insert the key in the correct position in order to open the door. You will hopefully be awake before any of this transpires.

Question as this thread seems to be a lot about jeans. My 15yo son has Aspergers & doesn’t like the feel of collared shirts (there aren’t any age appropriate polo shirts that I’ve found here in Australia). Will he be able to enter the MDR with pants and a
T-Shirt? He will look neat & tidy. He may wear a collared shirt (not buttoned up) over a T-Shirt.

Enjoying your post and looking forward to reading more. I am on the Volendam on July 25 with my 15yo son. Have a balcony room.

25 July Volendam - Vancouver departure, 7 days

I am in Ketchikan on July 30 and have the option of Neet’s Bay or Traitor’s Cove. I will be travelling with a 15yo. I am thinking they are pretty similar. Has anyone got an opinion on each. Hard decision. First and probably last trip to Alaska as I live in Australia.

Question- is the white bread sweet? In Australia it istbut when we travel to Asia it’s very sweet. Don’t like sweet white bread for breakfast- especially with eggs
