  1. Well, considering that it is Satellite Internet and you are literally "in the middle of nowhere" , it's great!

Don't compare it to your terrestrial based home Internet service...it will be nowhere near the speeds to which you are accustomed. You probably won't be able to "stream" anything. Probably will be a lot of buffering.

  2. There is an Air Canada flight Direct to Santiago that leaves TO at 10 pm and is 10 hours long. I am booked on that flight in about 5 weeks. I'm really hoping for an upgrade to Business ... they have sleeping pods! I think it's AC192 flight number.

I am woman traveling solo and plan to do the bus from airport to hotel with luggage. I'll try to remember to reply to this thread and let you know it goes.

  3. Thanks ALL! I will check around and see if I can find a portable DVD player locally. There was a fire at the local Thrift store last summer and they have finally found a new home so I might just luck out!

As long as I can get it TO the ship - I don't care if it comes back with me...

  4. When-what dates- are you going? You may end up in a Sled with wheels on it if you go in the summer. Or if you are going to be taken up the glacier - there is no need to take heavy coats. Just take a Fleece jacket and a windbreaker.

Check Google for average temperatures during the time you are going to be there.

  5. I know -- it's old school...

I am on a Repositioning cruise on the Sun and I have some DVDs that I want to watch on the long days.

I don't have a DVD player or a lap top.

Are there DVD player in the room? Maybe in the TV?

    Anyone know the answer?

    Thanks!

  6. Note your shoes must have both closed toes and heels for the ropes course. My Hubbie had really nice hiking shoes and they would not let him on the ropes course because the heels were not completely closed. But he could wear his dress shoes!

I hope you a picture of him doing the course in his dress shoes!! Especially if he is also wearing shorts!:D

  7. Good for you! Way too many people with way too much credit card debt! I am trying to pay for beverage package and gratuities before I go so that I don't come home to a huge bill! Then taking another 3 months to pay the thing off...Especially with 18% interest! Have a great time !

  8. If you are hiking thru bush and jungle..long pants ..tuck the bottom of the pants ( the hem) inside your sock. Pulling your socks over your pant legs. Then the little "biters" can't land on your shoe before climbing up your leg to bite your ankles! Not a particularly "glamorous" look, but it works! Oh and use some Citronella Essential oil on your socks too. Just a few drops! Essential oils..do Terra and Young Living are very concentrated! A little goes a long way!

  9. OKAY - I saw this funny post about someone who had a yard sale on their door during the cruise- I thought "how funny is that?" Next thought was "I'm going to do that too!"

NOW I can't find the original post. I have searched and search and I can't find the darned thing.

Has anyone else seen this post? Where the heck is it?

    Thanks!

  10. I've seen a lot of strange things, but one of the more interesting (and annoying) ones was on the Crown Princess on the "listing" voyage. There was this man, mid 60's maybe, who would save seats (both at a table w/ chairs and loungers) with a big blow up doll. She was clad (part of the plastic, not actual clothing) with a very skimpy bikini and even had big boobs. This thing was a good 4 1/2 - 5 ft tall at least. Every day she was lying in a lounger.

So are you saying that I shouldn't take my inflatable friends with me on the next cruise?? I thought it was a great idea!

I am cruising solo and paying the single supplement and one of my co-workers said I should get an inflatable boyfriend to take-then I would have a dinner companion and someone to save my seat. I thought it was a great idea! Now, I'm not so sure.....
