everyone that wants a dress code forgets to add "I dress code I approve of." This is a buisness and more people mean more profit, so they try to strike a balance between the two. Also if someone is wearing shorts does it somehow diminish the fact someone else is in a suit or tux? They will silently judge you just like you are judging them.

Without specific examples, it sounds like you are a "I don't want kids around me" person which is fine, that is why there are adult only cruises. If you go on a cruise that is marketed towards families don't be surprised when there are kids on board.

A filed suit does not mean the Plaintiff has won. Typcially for a buisness to be liable for the criminal acts of a third party three things must exist. First the owner had a duty to exercise reasonable care; second the owner failed to exercise reasonable care; third the failure of that care is teh proximate cause of the injuries.
Diffrent jurisdictions have diffrent standards for what reasonable care is.

There are also many things that have to take place before the ship can safely leave that cannot be done until passangers are onboard, such as moving the walkway and securing lines for departure.
