  1. While I'm glad that you got a response from the Maitre'D, just know that for those that didn't get a response that it is not their job or responsibility to respond to guest requests.

Yea I had 0 expectations that i would get a reply. Usually around 2 we just head to the MDR and speak with the maitre d'. Thought that was pretty good though.

Jmae, thats what I was thinking unless it is open 24 hours and then I may just get in there early one morning. Still wondering if the ironing board will be available to use throughout the night.

Bakers that is a great idea! I may try that!

  2. Hey everyone! My DW and I are cruising the Freedom on 5/12 out of Galveston. 4th year in a row we are heading out to sea.

First I just wanted to make a comment....I emailed Csaba (He goes by Chubby?) YESTERDAY 5/9 about requesting a table for 2 by a window for our confirmed late dining time. The email I sent was at 11am. At 11pm, he writes back that he is more than happy to honor my request!! I think that is phenomenal after seeing some haven't heard back from their Maitre d' at all. Its been a rough last 12 months and we cannot wait! Also, should I check in when we get on board that the request has been processed?

To the question: Regardless of how I fold clothes and how much ironing I do before I pack and regardless of how I pack.... When I open my bags, my elegant night clothes and almost everything else is wrinkled to a point where I turn on the shower and have to hang them in bathroom for an hour to make myself feel half way acceptable...

Is the self service laundry station where I can use the Iron available 24/7, or do they close that down? I didnt realize that there was self laundry stations with an ironing board before, i feel silly now. lol

    Thank you!!

  3. Last year we cruise the Freedom. My steak was good, my wives had about 8oz of fat on it and they did nothing. With that said, the year before we were on the Breeze and both of our steaks were phenomenal. It couldve been that we got what was left since we dined at the steakhouse on the last night.

  4. I as well was looking for the Health paperwork. I called carnival a couple weeks back and they stated that in some ports (IE Galveston) they are trying that tablet process. Some ports still will have them, some will not. TBH, I liked just filling it out and handing it over but this will work too.

Anyways, if the questionnaire is not available when you print out the rest of your documents, don't worry about it. Nothing is wrong with the system, they will review it at the port.

  5. I tell people NEVER check the weather. There is nothing you can do about it so why stress over something you can not control.

If it rains it rains for a short time the sun comes out for a bit then it rains some more.

Unless you are seeing 100% rain in each of those ports for the duration of your trip do not expect rain every single minute of every day.

We arrived in Roatan. Weather said rain and clouds. It rained maybe 2 minutes when we arrived. the rest of the day was beautiful

Good call and yes, i do this to myself every year lol. I think I may have to start cruising twice a year

  6. Never wanted a private balcony but have had plenty of windows. Sometimes you can find a good Deal on an "obstructed view" and the room is usually slightly bigger and almost same cost as interior and the view is still ok.

That being said, I prefer saving all the money on those windows and balconies since we usually end up doing excursions and the cheers program. We tend to be in bed by 2am and up by 7am and spend our time on the deck or roaming the boat. I dont see a need to get a balcony or window unless like a previous poster said, you cruise the Alaskan or panama canal.

I will also say, getting the obstucted view led us to finding out about the "secret/more private" front decks which is a great view in the evening or even night when the moon is reflecting off the ocean.

  7. This year we have smartened up and purchased a 10" fan and a 5" personal one since I have to have it as cool as possible in the room. Both very quiet and purchased both on amazon for under $30 total. Last 3 years I have seen people bring fans on board that are too big to fit in a backpack. I have never seen a problem with it.

Beats trying to get one brought to your room with a chance they run out.

  8. I've been on 2 other cruises to the Caribbean and for some reason always check the weather at the locations im going even though I've never been big on meteorologists and always seems to show rain and then is nothing but sun... anyone else see that Montego bay (they are having horrible weather right now by what i see in the news), Grand Cayman and Cozumel is looking to have rain all week during that cruise...That would be a bummer! Lets hope it changes and there is clear skies!

Anyways, 4th year in a row cruising carnival, new to this board. Good reads here. Hopefully this work week doesnt drag!:');)
