  1. Prices for canal crossings will be going up in 2010 and most lines are reacting by reducing the number of crossings or only offering the crossings on their longer trips.

We booked the Island Princess, November 20, 2010 FLL to LAX. Price was $1,000 more than the same cruise in 2009. Princess Rep said that's because when they first come out, they always start at the highest price, only to come down later. He said when the 2009 schedule came out, the prices started in the same range as the 2010 schedule is now.

Here's to hoping that the same thing happens for our cruise.

  2. Hi All,

We're contemplating taking the 15 day Panama Canal cruise in November next year. I've noticed that the prices are less than half of what they are in Feb-Mar. (Mind you I'm wokring from THIS year's schedule as next year's isn't out yet). This seems odd to me as the cheapest one seems to be over Thanksgiving, when I assumed the prices would be higher.

Has anyone sailed the Canal at this time of year that could give insight on the price disparity? Is it the weather that time of year? The fact that it's right before the holidays?

    I'm confuzzed.

  3. Hello All,

We're booked on the Grand in October and I have a question about these balcony cabins.

We just got off another ship last week and were again at the Aft. Into and out of ports, when the Thrusters were on, the entire cabin shook. (Granted we were on a lower floor). Has anyone ever stayed in either of these cabins on the Grand, Sun or Golden, and if so, do you feel the thruster vibration on the Baja Deck?

Just wondering if we should stay with the larger balcony, or move more midship.

    Opinions?

    Thanks

  4. Interesting to hear all the opinions about Carnival. We've only been on one before (Princess) and were treated very well.

We're going on the Celebration this Christmas (the parents coerced me) and was worried that with the amount of familes and kids this week, that we probably won't have any FoDs, but I feel better about it now.

Not that I'm not expecting to have a good time, I just have to keep telling myself that it's an opprtunity to spend the holidays with family, and try to ignore the multitudes of little tykes and their parents.

Besides, there are LOTS of places I can hide where kids aren't allowed. (Bar, Casino, Bar, Sauna, Bar..... I sense a pattern here)

    David
