There is a lift to the towers- I think it might have been one way only but I am not sure if it could be used as a more accessible way down. For me going up the tower was not very interesting. I preferred the stained glass windows downstairs. I could have sat there all day.

Please provide your opinions on whether you think my 87-year old Father would be able to negotiate the walk down the 400 steps of the Nativity Tower in Sagrada Familia (Gaudi's Basilica).

He is in relatively good shape...but I understand that there are no handrails on the walk down the 400 steps from the top of the tower to the bottom.

Also...Please suggest the BEST Restaurants for Tapas in Barcelona.

Also...Do you the think Red On/Off Bus is the best way to see Barcelona if we are only there for 1-1/2 days ?

I will be staying in Barcelona for a few days before and after my Celebrity cruise this Fall.

I will be traveling with my 87-year-old Father.

We are staying in the “old town” area of Barcelona in a very respectable hotel.

My question is this; Is it safe to walk around Barcelona in the evening as I have heard there are numerous pick pockets and also people will approach you & rob you.
