  1. Hi. We will be cruising on the Carnival Valor for a 4 day cruise to Cozumel in June. Any and all advice for packing and tips onboard with a baby and toddler would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
We could not imagine not having our kiddo with us. He was 1 when we went last year and it was an amazing experience. He went to shows with us, the MDR, the steakhouse, everywhere we were he went and we still had an amazing trip. He will be 2 years 6 months when we go this year, and I'm excited for him to get to go to camp ocean. Not because it will be easier on me, but I remember how much fun it was for me when I went on my first cruise as a kid. Packing: I way overpacked. I would say 3 outfits per day, diapers used at home per day * 2, stroller is a must, formula(if used, powder only, they will make you throw it away if it is liquid, I had to beg them to let my son keep his bottle of milk at embarkation) if you use whole milk, make sure to grab all you need off of the buffet in the mornings and put it in the cabin for later in the day(they do not mind, if they are out just ask someone at the buffet and they will gladly get more) make sure you take all the baby soap, sunscreen, oil, powder, and lotion you need because I did not see any on the ship last may. Try the MDR and do not be discouraged if your kids have a breakdown or 2, they are in a new environment with so many strangers pinching their cheeks, it will probably happen at least once, but no one even notices for the most part. Take some toys, because when you want to rest in the room, it can be boring for them. Also, this trip we are taking a DVD player and DVD'S, because the TV doesn't have much for the little ones.

If they like specific snacks, take them, my little one is very picky, so I will take him some little things to snack on.

Overall, take your kids and enjoy letting them experience something so amazing. Don't get flustered if it seems everything is falling apart, it will be okay! The valor was my kiddos first ship and the staff went above and beyond to make sure he was happy.

Also, if FTTF is not sold out, I would do that, just to keep them happy before you board the ship and to have a much smoother experience.

  2. Taking a 9 month old on a cruise this summer. What did others do about eating dinner in the MDR? She goes to sleep at 7, so either thinking of going right at 5:45 or waiting until she falls asleep, transferring her to stroller, and going around 8? Thoughts?
When we took our 1 year old last year, we went with the flow. We have a very lax schedule, but the mdr wasnt an issue for us. If he fell asleep before dinner we just took him in his stroller and pulled it up to the table just as we would a high chair. It is kind of loud, but it did not seem to bother him. Do not skip the mdr. The buffet is not near as good and the atmosphere of the main dining room is so worth it.

  3. Our first official scuba trip after certification was 10 days in Grand Cayman in December - in the 80s every day & water temps around 84ish. Perfect weather! I haven't been to the other ports in December before.

As far as the balcony & a 2 year old, keep the balcony door locked (door is probably too heavy for a toddler to open, but better safe than sorry) & always watch your child while out there. While the balcony glass keeps a child from falling off while on the floor, a 2 year old is capable of pulling the little table up to the balcony to look over.

Thank you! I'm a helicopter mom lol, but wanted to make sure the door being locked should be enough.

  4. My first question would be how is the weather in December? Specifically Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Ocho Rios? We always cruise in the summer months and this will be our first cruise

Next, is the steakhouse worth it? We loved it on the Valor.

It is our first time in a suite, we are traveling with our 2 year old so I'm nervous about the balcony?

Any excursion suggestions would be appreciated, carnival or another company.

Is the Dr. Seuss breakfast worth it?

Any other tips or tricks would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!!
