  1. I like the fish and chips and the bangers and mash. I've "heard" that people have gotten shrimp and chips but have never seen it offered myself.

I have ordered shrimp and chips as well as fish, shrimp and chips several time at the pub lunch. You just have to ask for it. I hope the pub lunch is here to stay. We will be on the Grand next month and will know then. I will report after we return from that cruise.

  2. Thank you all for the great info and quick replies! I agree the smoking area outside of One5 is the best one I've been to. On my first cruise on the Grand we had a party out there with about 20 people every night and closed the One5 each time!

    Happy cruising!

  3. Hello, I hope someone can help me. Does anyone know where the outside smoking areas are on the Grand Princess? I know the area outside of the One5 Disco is a smoking area at the back of the ship, my question is is there a area at the front of the ship? I've been on the Crown and there is a smoking area at the front by the Tradewinds bar above lido. Is there a similar smoking area on the Grand?

  4. I doubt it. This is an evening event and, for now, apparently will only be on the Crown, Emerald and Ruby.

I agree since it is a evening venue it should not affect the pub lunch. Princess introduced the Crab Shack not too long ago to what I have experienced with great success so hopefully this will do so as well. Even if there is a small charge for the food I would still try it out. I will be on the Crown in December so I will be able to experience it then! :)

  5. Naked hot wings (I mean real spicy)

Hot pretzels with jalapeno cheese dip

    Onion rings

    Jalapeno poppers

    Zesty curly fries

Kettle or jello popcorn (it would have to be made and eaten right away)

with a side of heart burn

Buffalo/Hot Wings for sure! Love the idea of onion rings (if done right, so the onion breaks off when you bite it) and zesty curly fries!

  6. Take a bag of tortilla chips with you?

I have thought about taking a box of fancy cones for ice cream.

Not bar food, but I have wondered about hot donuts.

They are inexpensive to make and pretty much irresistible.

The ice cream cone idea is great!

On Princess at the International Cafe in the mornings they have donuts, love the CroNut... croissant donut! layers of dough sprinkled with sugar.

  7. OMG! Thank you, I now where this is and it's just what I've been looking for!:D

    Thanks again!;)

Hi Janie, it's Peter from our Crown cruise. I found this spot later during our cruise last December. I enjoyed the hot tub and pool, hardly anyone up there. You do have to go down 1 or 2 decks to get a drink. I never saw anyone taking drink orders up there.

  8. DW and I are booked for the 10 day Mexican Rivera cruise leaving from San Francisco 1/3/15. We are new to cruising.

We are in a balcony cabin on the Aloha Deck. According to the Princess Progressive Boarding policy, our category begins boarding at 2:00 pm. Do/can/should we check in our luggage with the stevedores early at the pier, say around 1:00 pm or earlier? How much is an appropriate tip to give (per bag)?

So do we get our ID's, and just wait in the cruise center until our category/number is called to board?

    Regards,

    King

Hi King, I have cruised from SF a few times, Princesses progressive boarding is a way to minimize the length of the line. You can get there early and drop your checked luggage with the porters, around noon should be fine. $1 or $2 per bag is the norm.

Yep after you get checked in, you have to wait for your number to be called. But the 2pm suggested time is just that, if you get there earlier then you may have to wait but if you get there at 2pm the terminal may be almost empty and you would be checked in and on board in no time.

Usually once the boarding process has begun, things move pretty fast.

Hopefully this helps and I hope You and DW have a great time on your cruise!!!

    Peter
