  1. The party 'till you puke atmosphere.

    Overpriced and weak drinks.

Unattended kids running wild about the ship.

    Long lines at checkin.

Crowds and long lines in the buffet.

    Boom boxes by the pool.

    Obnoxious and rude guests.

Saving a row of seats in the showrooms.

Seeing 100 unoccupied but saved lounge chairs by the pool.

Two ounce burned hamburger at Guy's.

Flop flops and shorts at dinner. Goes well with no tablecloth.

Poor quality food in the MDR. Even worse in buffet.

Constantly being asked to buy something.

    Hot cabins.

    Elevators out of service.

Slot machines that have zero payout.

Smoking on balcony just forward of yours.

    Overpriced shore excursions.

Guests that only take Saturday night baths.

And my favorite: Yellow pool water.

There's more but alas, no time

  2. Thanks to all for the informed responses and of course the beautiful photos.

We will be on the 2020 GWV and I now know what to expect. I am looking forward to this cruise with great anticipation and expectations. Will also check the blogs. Thanks for that heads up.

  3. Does anyone know if a HAL cruise in Antarctica is like cruising Glacier Bay or something different?

I am aware we will not go on shore but will we stay aboard ship and just cruise to and fro or will we board tenders or Zodiacs and get a more personalized experience up close?

    Does HAL furnish parkas?

    Any other info appreciated.

  4. Could someone comment on the times of year that the pollution has been bad? I will be in Beijing and Shanghai at the end of October, on the Amsterdam, and am wondering about pollution in that season.

In February both Beijing and Shanghai were very bad. My wife wore a disposable mask any time we were outdoors as did a lot of folks, tourists and locals. One day in Shanghai the visibility was so bad you could just barely see across the river.

  5. I've been in a CA on the Amsterdam and the Rotterdam. In fact same cabin as TAD2005 on the Rotterdam. Amsterdam is better as far as the noise problem because of the CA locations. Amsterdam has fewer CA's and they are located only from midship forward, not under galley. Presently I have a CA booked for 2020 World Cruise so at least I, for one, think a CA is O.K.
