  1. Were you on port or starboard side and north or south? We're on the port going north and I've been reading it's not the "ideal" side but everyone has different opinions.

We were in 9534 and 9532 - toward the front on the port side. Our itinerary was different - Seattle, Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Point, Sitka, Victoria, Vancouver - so we were more concerned with getting two rooms together than with the location. We took a one way trip going North a couple of years ago and were glad we chose starboard - more to see on that side toward the end of the trip. For the inside passage part there is plenty to see on both sides.

  2. I have a serious fish allergy so we end up in the buffet whenever the MDR is too "fishy". This also knocks out Teppanyaki and anything too close to the sushi. I'm becoming an expert at cruise buffets. They aren't my favorite but dying is bad so.....

I don't think we met anyone on this trip - it was a bucket list trip for my 78 year old Mom so we were mostly focused on her. If you saw a group trudging down the hallways behind a slower older lady with a floral cane in one hand and a rum & coke in the other, well, that was us. :)

Enjoying the pictures - I wish I had thought to take more.

  3. We just got off the Jewel - a balcony cabin in Alaska. I can't imagine going with interior up there - we had some pretty cold weather and spent a lot of time in the cabin/on the balcony just watching Alaska go by while wrapped up in a big blanket. Not sure I would have been comfortable doing that on deck. For me, half the point of being in Alaska is the view.

  4. Hi! We took this same cruise and we were also very disappointed with the food and the buffet. This is our third cruise with NCL, and it was MUCH better on the other two. I have never had this much trouble finding a table in the buffet, and was disappointed with the speciality dining. We had some hiccups with the cabin the first couple of days, with those smoothed out on the third or fourth day. I was impressed with Sitka & Hoonah, though, and would visit either again.
