  1. Random thought from me. I’ve been traveling a lot for work and one thing I do is bring my own little book little Starbucks Columbia instant coffee in packs to hotels. To me they work great and I can just fill up a large cup with hot water, mix in the coffee and be done with it. Can you use your own cup for things like water and coffee?

On the first day there is a singles meet and greet sponsored by VV and then whoever wants to in the group is invited to do a group dinner at Razzle Dazzle, no reservations needed.  There continue to be "meet up" activities throughout the cruise.  In addition, most cruises have social media groups that arrange additional activities.

    Thank you for this information!

  3. Hi All,

I’m a 55 year old single man. I have solo cruised before on NCL. They did have some meetup opportunities that helped you not feel so alone. I am a bit concerned about meeting people on Virgin because it’s so centered around eating. I do like to have fun and party a little. I am just wondering if the cruise is conducive to not making you feel so alone? If anyone has any input, I would appreciate bit.

  4. I am about to get on the breakaway on the 7th for a 5 day cruise. I have not had a real vacation in a very long time. I find it difficult to vacation alone just because I am typically around at least a small group of people that we can generate some fun. I am also 51 and I prefer to hang out with people in my age range. I am in a solo cabin and plan to partake in as many group activities as I can. I guess I am just worried this vacation is going to suck because I'm alone. Am I worrying over nothing?

If there's an excursion you really want, I would buy it ahead of time.

Definitely reserve your specialty dining ahead of time.  The best slots get filled (usually) before the ship sails.  Reservations open either 90 or 120 days in advance.  We always book as early as we can -- especially true if you have a large group.  A la carte restaurants can be reserved without payment.  Fixed-price restaurants will need to be paid for at the time of booking.

If you like water in your stateroom, just go ahead, bite the bullet, and pay through the nose to have some delivered to room.  NCL doesn't let you carry on bottled water.

If you have like a water bottle, can you fill it up around the ship?

  6. So it has been a while since I've cruised and I've never cruised NCL or cruised alone like this time. I am in a studio.

So when the solo coordinator arranges these dinners, are they in specialty restaurants? And what about reserving shows? Is it necessary? Sorry for the dumb questions. Being along puts all of the pressure on me to plan.

Hi Cavenger, did you book? I’m booked on the April 14 sailing myself in a studio cabin. If you have access to Internet while on the ship please post some reviews for me and anyone else in a studio cabin. Thanks.

Hey DK! I just did book it and I am really excited. I will be sure to give you guys a review as best as I can.
