If you booked your cruise through a HAL PCC they also can handle overcharge situations for you.  Probably not something your TA would be too eager to do since there's nothing in it for them.

If you do put in a good faith effort to resolve it with guest relations and still cannot get satisfaction then as a last resort you can always calculate the overcharge and dispute that amount on your CC - you will certainly hear from them after that.

Did not use a HAL PCC and, unfortunately, I had refundable OBC and a few gift cards on my account so credit card dispute won't apply. I do appreciate your input, though.

  2. Just got back from cruise on Nieuw Statendam. Despite several trips to front desk, errors were not corrected (they overcharged me and had me on two tours at the same time, I had paid for the tour before I got on the ship and it still showed up on, ugh! Can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this, preferably via e-mail (spreadsheets are my friends)

  3. Thank you both for giving a glimpse into the Bubble of Awesomeness. I found your posts to be informative and your writing style is hilarious. I especially appreciate your wine choices and look forward to giving a few of them a try. My only disappointment is that, as a lowly 3-star, I can't use the catapult. Maybe that's not a bad thing; I'm leaving on a trans-Atlantic tomorrow.

  4. I have followed your upbeat and informative blogs over your last few cruises and, usually, give my thanks at the end. While I don't know you, I do know that your positive outlook will  help carry you through this challenge. This fan is looking forward to next year's WC blog. Wishing you all the best.

  5. We had a one day rental from Great Island last August. We were quite happy with their service. Pick up and drop off right at the port.( They bring you to their nearby office/gas station where you fill out paperwork and get car and  drop  it off, they drive you back to port ) Our goal was the Ringfinnan Memorial Garden near Kinsale. I don't recall what we spent, but I don't believe it was anymore than an excursion would cost for the 2 of us. By the way, I had difficulty trying to book for just one day on their website so wound up calling "Ray" at 0214811609. I had some apprehension, but all worked out fine

  6. I'm looking forward to eating at Rudy's on the Nieuw Statendam before they are no more (I've eaten in a pop-up and really enjoyed it) My question is, should I make the reservation for at the very beginning with the hopes of getting fresh fish or it's all flash frozen. Thanks!

Monday night was not the greatest, I had frequent trips to the bathroom with cramps which for me generally signify dehydration, and was up about 5.

I hope you're feeling better. I don't cook with salt, so noticed on our last cruise (Zuiderdam) that the food was saltier than I'm used to. This may be contributing to dehydration. Drink extra water. Note: I'm no medical professional, so take this advice with a grain of salt.

  8. Help! I received e-mail that waitlisted tour was available. I jumped on it using HIA credit to pay. I now see the other tour we were waitlisted for is available. It is the one we really want. When I go to cancel the first one on the website, I'm told $0 refund. Will I get back my HIA credits if I cancel? If phone call to Shorex is needed, could someone give me their phone number. Thanks!

Check your mariner account.  Last month I placed form in the box and after I got home I realised that I had not received an email.  When I checked my account on HAL website, the credits were listed.

    Thanks! Yes, there they are.

Thank you for clarifying.  We are booked on the Rotterdam to Boston segment of that cruise.  For future reference, can you refer me to the number of the discussion that you described?  I have, in the part, planned a few M&G's and would like to have a definitive understanding of this subject.

#1659, #1664 and #1967. I look forward to seeing you on board.

Apparently not too significantly.  Take a peek at a very recent posting on the VOV's 2023 roll call re private tours and the M&G..

I'm part of the VOV 23 roll call. The private tours discussed fall into the categories of already paid to vendors by individuals, or funds due to vendor on day of tour. The sign up sheets are so people know who else will be doing the tours or activities with them. The sign up sheets are not for hawking tours. The subject was specifically addressed on the roll call a few weeks ago.
