  1. Thanks for the reply Skeeter-

we had a Club Balcony on the Breakaway and loved the extra space- especially in the bathroom.

we were on the Pearl in our usual deck nine balcony-  and the drawer and bathroom space was the smallest we've ever seen.

Wondering if you think the Club Balcony on the Jewel also has that extra room-

    appreciate the help!!

  2. We are considering booking a Club Balcony on the Jewel instead of a deck nine mid ship balcony.

The main concern is the potential noise from deck 12 above us:  the pool deck, garden cafe, teen club -  you name it....

Anyone have experience on the Jewel on the deck 11 Club Balcony and the noise level?

    Many thanks

  3. OP-

as I said-  safe travels....Europe by rail is great too. You will have way more flexibility to see and enjoy what you want .    Hopefully you wont run into any snags crossing boarders.

I'd be interested to know how your travel insurance treats you in all of this

  4. very sorry to hear the latest-  but it seems that NCL was caught off guard by the change as well.

I have been watching this thread this morning, as it brought back to mind our boarding fiasco Dec. 5th on the Breakaway out of New Orleans-  another situation that was out of NCL's control-  but it was a terribly stressful day for those of us who had to stand outside the terminal for hours waiting to see what would happen-  I don't wish to relive that !  But at least we finally got to board and sail.

What are your options now...?  are you able to remain in Spain?  Barcelona is a wonderful city-  very worth spending some time in.

    Safe travels

Or - follow up question - if I just .... didn't wear a mask, am I going to get yelled at often (on either NCL or RC)? I am double vaccinated and also just had covid a month ago, so I no longer want to wear a mask (nor do I think they're working on cruise ships). I'm willing to wear one in the terminal and in the tight hallways, but I'm not going to be putting it back on every time I have to go to the inside bar for another drink or walk to the bathroom from the dinner table. I loved that NCL had previously not required masks, but then Omicron happened and now I'm wondering how things are actually being handled.

I'm glad that you have recovered from Covid, but just putting this into what you will need to consider as well-

After recovering from Covid-  you (anyone) have the potential to test positive for up to 90 days.  If you do show a positive test at the port,  you will be denied boarding-  No consideration for being recovered,  a positive test is a positive test.

Recommend testing at home to ensure you are showing negative.

Looking for experience and insight from those who had recovered from Covid and then went on a NCL cruise where you had to take the antigen test before boarding.

Yes-  DH had Covid,  thankfully recovered.

knowing that he had the possibility to test positive for up to 90 days,  we both tested before flying to NOLA-  yes that was nerve wracking,  but we knew that positive test = not sailing.

thankfully all of our tests-  at home, at pier, on board were negative-  so no issues.

  7. Hope all goes well for you-  at least you had a place to sit.....

we were stuck out on the street (literally) in NOLA on Dec 5th trying to board the Breakaway-  due to the Covid cases on the previous sailing.

So much out of NCL's control-  but the one thing I have to say is that NCL could have done a much better job of communicating and keeping us updated.

Although as we were discussing with some fellow passengers- given how fluid the situation was -  I'm sure NCL didn't want to communicate anything (especially in writing) that could have changed -  given the litigious society we have to live in.

    Have a wonderful trip

  8. We were on the Breakaway ,  having a special dinner at Cagneys,  about halfway thru our meal,  a large party (12 or so) was seated .

They then proceeded to Face Time someone in the family back home, then passed the phone around the table to each person and SCREAMED into the phone how much they loved them and missed them.

I'm not the type to let other's annoy me -  but it got to be a bit much-  and in my opinion - extremely rude.

Looking back, I wish I had gotten up and said something to the host.

I have been in restaurants (pubs and bars too!)on land that has a policy posted of Please limit cell calls and NO Face Time.

Wish NCL would  do the same!

    just venting.........

  9. from what I can recall (and its been awhile since we've cruised!)  there is no one checking for ID's or asking age at the door.

I would say its more what you are comfortable having your daughter hear.

I'm sure it varies by the comedian-  but I don't remember anything particularly over-the-top as far as language or topics

    have fun!

  10. Wondering if anyone who has recovered can share how NCL handled their testing?

My husband tested positive for breakthru Covid on 10/2-  and yes-  thankfully has recovered.

we are booked on the Breakaway for 12/5.

we are both fully vaccinated-  but now we are nervous that he will still be showing positive in December.

Has anyone been through this scenario and can share how NCL handled, what all documentation they wanted ,and if they were able to sail?

    Thank you in advance

Amsterdam all day every day - Mostly friendly staff who generally speak excellent English, well signed, all in one interconnected terminal complex.

Paris is my least favourite connecting airport in Europe - Quite a few rude staff who pretend not to speak English, poorly signed, multiple physically separate terminals with shuttle bus connections that are time consuming and confusing.

all of the above and then some......CDG is a tough one to navigate-  even on a good day.

    Definitely Schipol

  12. Confusion still reigns.....Heard back from our TA....she said NCL told her that original itinerary is good to go.....which I really dont believe-  I just dont  think they know what is going on yet as the situation is fluid.

My prediction is that we are going to see the itinerary get modified, and for that reason -  I think we are going to cancel.

Also- I was just researching the current state of things in South Africa- and while the borders are open , the country is still under curfew orders, restaurant capacities etc...... We had planned to spend extra time in Capetown,  but I think it's our best decision to postpone....again  😩

    stay safe everyone!!

  13. The Epic-  did not like the layout,  did not like the outdoor spaces-   including Spice H20-  which was billed as adults only -  but constant parade of kids thru the bar area from the basketball courts one deck up.

The ships we prefer are the Sun and the Spirit.

we like the smaller more intimate ships

We are all left in the dark here. Oman is fluid everyday. I am on the 12/3 sailing to Cape town and those islands state that ships are banned till 2022.

You might be OK as you sail in 2022 but the islands have not issued any updates. You also have to hope the ships sails to Cape town at all.

I know we have until 61 days prior to cancel, but that would take away our bonus %.  If we wait for them to cancel, that may be another story.

I hope we get to maintain the extra % benefit but I doubt it.   I personally have a 25% off credit plus I got the 25% bonus FCC as well.  From a financial point its a killer for them.

    Steve

    Hi Steve-

we are currently booked on the 12/3 sailing to Cape town as well.

can you post the link to where you are finding that the islands have banned cruise ships for 2021?  i have done some casual searching  myself,  but have not turned up anything.

We will definitely be cancelling if we cant make those stops-  that was our main reason for booking this.

    Thanks for the info!

  15. My deposit was refunded back to my credit card yesterday-  which thankfully was the only $$ we had into this trip.

Question-  has anyone re-booked a new cruise ?  I am curious about how this 10% credit is being calculated?  10% of the NEW booking-  or of the cancelled Asia cruise?  and just the cruise fare?  (not port fees or gratuities?)

letter from NCL said the 10% would "appear" in my profile after 2/14-  but I dont see anything. I am assuming that it will show once we decide where we will go instead.

anyone rebooked yet ?  just curious to know how that is showing.

    Thanks

Guess where the safest place to be on earth is in the event of the worst earthquake imaginable.

    Go on, guess.

We were on The POA in March 2011 when the big earthquake and tsunami hit Japan.  We were on our over-night in Kauai .

knowing what I know about  about :  Tsunamis, and geography-  i knew we were next ...

The captain took the ship out of the harbor and we sat at sea-  still in view of the island-  so not that far.

I stayed awake out on the balcony as I wanted to see if I would be able to detect anything-  and no-  nothing

as our Captain told us-  the safest place to be was on our ship and out at sea.

Thankfully  Hawaii was spared the destruction that they got in Japan,  but got to hear some wild (and panicky) tales from those who were on the islands that night
