If you need that extra rum, try 15 Foster's Oil Cans if you like beer or 15 Long Island Iced Teas if you like alcohol.  If you still need that rum after polishing off either of those, then yes, you may have a problem.

15 Foster's is too much bloat and while I enjoy a Long Island, when I'm relaxing on a ship or beach, I like a foofy drink.  There's just not enough punch to the frozen and blended drinks Carnival dishes out, so I bring some rum for a floater.  I realize I could wait five minutes and order a shot of rum for the floater, but honestly my tolerance is quite high and I have no problem hitting the 15 drink limit throughout the day so this works for me.

  2. For meat, they have pulled pork, chicken, and brisket.  You can view their menu here https://www.carnival.com/~/media/Images/explore/dining/menus/ol-fashioned-bbq-menu.pdf

When I was on the Splendor in July, all the meats were enjoyable but my preference was to make a pulled pork sandwich (they have bread at the bbq place as well).  The mac n cheese wasn't very good, but the baked beans were ok.

In customer service there is a saying.  A disgruntled customer will tell 50 people, but a happy person will just come back and bring a friend.

In Cruise Critic, a disgruntled guest, gets slammed for stating facts.

Regardless of how the poster presented the post, an employee stole an item, in the room.  Regardless of value, the theft is a theft. Carnival could have done a better job at handling the customer.  Yes, it could happen on any line, but the way it was handled is a reflection on Carnival.

A person stated their side of the story.  Carnival isn't on here telling theirs.  The rest of us have no idea what happened.  Maybe an ounce of wine was stolen.  Maybe it spilled.  Maybe it was marked wrong.  You unequivocally declaring there a theft doesn't make it so.

Go read responses from restaurant owners on Tripadvisor or Yelp sometime to disgruntled customers.  There's always more to the story.  Should Carnival have just comped a bottle of wine immediately?  Maybe, but the notion that a full investigation should take place over an ounce of wine is absurd.

Yes, another member responded prior to you and corrected the information that I received from Carnival. As I mentioned above, our tour operator was NOT able to give us information about Ship Time vs Cabo Time unfortunately, which is why I called Carnival. I certainly don’t mean to spread false information. I thought by calling the source I had reliable info. Does anyone actually know the answer to the OP’s question? I’d certainly like to know now, too! 🙂

I'll answer it again though I might be accused of spreading confusion again.  This was true for my cruise on the Splendor last summer.

Cabo was one hour ahead of ship time.

Mazatlan was the same time as ship time.

PV was one hour ahead of ship time.

And much like you, I found that excursion operators I used did not know what time the ship would be using.  They could only tell me that their excursions left at 11 (or whatever) local time.

Cruising TA, the post above is what confuses people so much, rely on your tour operator. They make the time very clear on their meeting instructions

Cruising TA asked a question, I answered with my semi-recent experience.  You might find it confusing but I would have loved for that information when I asked the same question before going on the Splendor last year.

Oh and by the way, ship staff got the ship time vs port time wrong while on the ship the night before ports, along with tour operators that I booked with.  I left myself an hour buffer just to be sure but if I was only to rely on Carnival and tour operators, I would have been screwed.

  6. Hey there. This hasn’t been asked in awhile so I thought i’d post for recent feedback. We are sailing Horizon in Dec with two teenage daughters. 14 & 16. The 14 is a freshman and turns 15 in Jan. How hard will it be for her to move up with her sister. She is going to freak if they make her hang with 12 year olds. Not including the fact she’ll hover around me and her mom the whole time if we don’t get her to hang with her sister at club O2.

    Thanks Brandon.

We were on a different Carnival ship in July and our son was 14.75 at the time. Unlike his dad (me), he's socially very advanced for his age - looks 16 and is over 6 feet tall, hangs out with older kids, was starting high school in 4 weeks, and so on. So rather than risk him not being able to enjoy his first cruise to the fullest, I entered his date of birth as 2002 instead of 2003 when I booked the trip. The guy checking passports never noticed and it wasn't an issue at all during the cruise. Turns out he didn't even hang out in Club 02 much (none of the kids did) but it was a good starting point to meet people.

And just to get this out of the way...yes I realize this was a lie. Yes I realize I broke the rules. Yes you can call me a bad parent for teaching my it's ok to lie. I've lurked long enough to know what's coming but I really don't care. I'm more of a spirit of the law/rule kind of guy.

  7. You should have spent the night before hand at one of the cruise and snooze hotels nearby. I am paying $140 f or 1 night accomodations and 7 nights parking. And the best thing is I dont have to drive from my house to ship on embarkation day. Free shuttle to and from the ship also

Sent from my LG-LS777 using Forums mobile app

We considered that but our group would have had to get 3 rooms and there was only two vehicles so in the end it was still cheaper to just drive the morning of. I might do it next time when it's just the wife and I.

  8. Is the new $20 limit before including the 15% gratuity? Sailing on Fascination with Cheers in 9 days.

Gratuity is added onto the cheers package price, not the individual drinks you order. If you order a Bud Light, the receipt you sign says $6.50 and you can add extra gratuity if you want but it is not automatically added. Therefore any drink listed at $20 and under should be fair game.

  9. Thanks Slinky! We have FTTF and there is no way that I am waiting to park at 11:30 😀 Do you remember how much the parking was per day? I think it was $19 a day last time we used that parking garage.

Parking was $20 per day. Always nice to spend lots of money on the ship and get one more $140 punch on the way out :)

  10. So the arrival time into a port that is listed is the ship's time, not the local time? So if a tour (not through the ship) is listed as 10 am in Cabo then the ship time would be 9am.... do I understand that correctly? I will have a watch for getting on and off the ship so I won't miss it.... just trying to plan for activities and see what is an option for booking on my own.

I'm not the original poster but I was on the Splendor 7/14-7/21. In Cabo, ship time is one hour behind local time so yes, a 10 am Cabo start is 9 am ship time. In Mazatlan ship time and port time were the same. In PV, it was back to one hour behind local time.

Did you park at the port before the cruise? I understand from these boards that because the Splendor is larger, there isn’t enough parking at the port. Someone said that you can’t park in the port garage until 11:30. We have FTTF and I would like to know what time everyone started boarding on your cruise? Nice review-Thanks!

I was able to find parking at 10:30 on the top level of the parking garage. There were probably 30 other open spots up there and more opened up as the last stragglers of the previous cruise trickled off.

I had no FTTF or any preferred status and I was on board the ship at 11:35 (my arrival time was supposed to be 12:30-1:00).

  11. I'm going on the Mexican Riviera cruise aboard the Splendor next week and I'm hoping someone can clear up ship time vs port time for this itinerary. Everything I've read on here indicates that the ship will be one hour behind vs local time for all of the ports (Cabo, Mazatlan and PV).

However, when I emailed Carnival about the issue, I received the following response: When the ship is in port, the time onboard will be the local time of the port you are visiting.

Anybody know for sure which is correct?
