  1. If you are a UK based cruiser, open a Nationwide FlexDirect account, pay the £13 a month and if you are under 75, this will give you worldwide travel insurance for trips of up to 30 days, automatically.

    However, if you are over 70, they will need you to answer a couple of health questions. This wasn't a problem for us and the few medical issues that we have were accepted without concern.

     

    As long as they are happy with you, this cover can then be extended to cover longer term cruises and to include the increased cancellation costs that such cruises will entail.

    How do I know this? Well we are both 73 and are on the Arcadia Jan 2020 worldwide cruise and Nationwide has given us full travel insurance cover without any particular difficulty for the 99 days but just simply subject to the payment of a fairly modest additional premium.

     

    We will have to renew our annual cover again before we depart but were told that as long as we remain fairly healthy, our next year's additional premium will probably be the same as we have paid this year.

    It's by far the best option I have found.
