Try to limit yourself to one pair of very comfortable dressy shoes...it’s hard. I do one dressy pair & one dressy flat for all evenings

That would certainly be the prudent thing to do, but I don’t think it’s likely to happen, lol. I will probably need three pairs of dressier shoes for dinner and then at least two casual pairs for daytime wear. The one good thing is that the dressy heels I’ll likely be bringing are strappy heeled sandals and won’t take up much space in my luggage. I can’t do flats with cocktail dresses,  it just wouldn’t look right.

  2. So all the dresses I order have arrived. I’m in LOVE with the floral print/one shoulder dress. It reminds me of a late 80’s or early 90’s dress and I feel so glamorous in it! The only one that’s not a perfect fit is the red one and so I don’t think I will end up taking with me on this cruise. I need to have the top altered, but I think I’m still going to keep it as it was under $100 and would be perfect for a dressy holiday event.

Since this is a fun spring break cruise I decided to look for another brightly colored cocktail dress and I ordered this pink off the shoulder number for the 2nd elegant night of my cruise. I hope it fits as now it’s sold out.

I’ve been on an online shopping spree lately, so many sales and markdowns at Dillard’s and Nordstrom. Now I’m looking for shoes and  accessories.

  3. No earring for me when I’m sitting around at home. I do love earrings though, The bigger the better!  For whatever reason my pierced ears have never closed up even when I went years without earrings.

  4. Sorry I have another question. I guess I don’t have much to do lately other than obsess over my upcoming cruises.

    I have two cruises booked:

🚢 Panorama 7 day Mexican Riviera Spring Break March 2021- 3 ports/ 3 sea days

🚢 Horizon 7 day Eastern Caribbean Christmas Cruise Dec 2021- 4 ports/ 2 sea days

I will be going on both cruises with a friend,  no kids. We are both single and in our late 30’s/40’s. We are looking to relax and have fun socializing. Dealing with packed pools and fighting over lounge chairs isn’t my idea of a good time.

Right now I have a spa room on the Panorama and Havana on the Horizon. I’m wondering if I have that wrong, given that I only have two days at sea on the horizon. Maybe I should switch that around.

Should I switch my spa balcony room on the Panorama to an interior Havana room so that we have relaxing pool days on the Mexican riviera cruise? I expect the cruise will be fairly packed (assuming no Covid issues 😬). Maybe the spa isn’t worth it. I had always wanted a spa room, but having seen how packed the main pool is the Havana area looks appealing. That said, we want to socialize. Would we be better off at the serenity area for that? I’d save about $400 by moving from our spa balcony to an interior Havana.

For the Horizon Christmas cruise I’m not sure what to do either. There’s a chance I’ll be solo on this cruise if my friend can’t go. I was concerned about this cruise being super packed, but then I saw that there are only two sea days. Maybe the spa would be nice after some of those port days.

    Any thoughts?

  5. So my Mexican riviera cruise is still just over 300 days out, but that isn’t stopping me from planning. Especially with everything going on right now, this cruise gives me a lot to look forward to.

I will be going with one of my good friends and this will be a fun and relaxing vacation. That said, we both are into clothes and fashion and welcome any opportunity to wear a cocktail dress. We’re also both single 😉

Here’s what I have planned for dinnertime attire for the 7 day cruise. I believe there are two elegant nights (Carnival Panorama). I will be going with casual-ish accessories for the non-elegant nights but will probably add a fun wrap or light blazer as I tend to get cold. Much of this was just ordered (Dillard’s has a pretty good sale going on currently) and so who knows what will fit and be kept. This is all a bit of a departure from my usual black that I wear to work and I’m thrilled.

  6. Hi, I'm looking to book a cruise over Thanksgiving with one of my long-time girlfriends. It will be just the two of us and we are just looking to relax for a week without our kids. We both like good food but are not snobs. We plan on drinking a fair amount and will probably get some sort of drink package. To be honest, we aren't thrilled with the itinerary but as we live in the western US (SLC and Seattle) it just gets too complicated trying to do a Florida departure. So we don't care much about the ports in Mexico, we've been to most of them before. We want some pool time, maybe spa treatments, decent (at least) food, fun bars/dancing maybe shows too.

Both Carnival and Princess offer seven day Mexican riviera trips with the exact same itinerary. Carnival is about $70 less for an ocean view. Which cruise line would be a better fit do you think? People seem to have the impression that Princess is more upscale, but in reading the reviews that doesn't always seem to be the case. Also, I think the Mexican Riviera cruises are their own sort of beast, possibly lower caliber than other cruises.

    Thanks!
