  1. We booked this tour for our 3/7/19 cruise and recently received an email from Princess stating that the “Volcano” museum is “closed for renovations.  As a result, the time at the ruins site has been extended.  The total duration of this tour will remain the same.”

The option was given to cancel/rebook a different excursion.  So far we are planning to stick with this one.

  2. We took the excursion to Paine National Park last February. Yes, it is $1000 per person. We thought it was worth the price. There is a flight on a small plane up to the park area, small van tour through the park with a very knowledgeable guide, plenty of time to get out of the van and look around, take pictures, incredible scenery, decent lunch. That tour was one of the highlights of a remarkable cruise.

  3. We took this excursion a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. Started at the turtle farm, and were there for quite a while. Plenty of time to learn about the farm and see the turtles. The bike riding was not at all difficult, no hills to speak of. The end of the tour at the beach club gave time for swimming/snorkeling and enjoying the beach and food was available. This is one of the better shore excursions we've taken.

  4. We had the same situation at the end of our Baltic cruise last May. We wanted to continue exploring Copenhagen without suitcases in tow, so here's what we did:

Took a taxi to the airport (cost about 380 DK (on a credit card), less than the Princess transfer. At Terminal 2/Car Park 4 there are storage lockers right inside the parking garage. They only take Danish coins (75 DK for large locker, 50 DK for small locker), so I had to go into the airport terminal to first find an ATM, then a bank counter to get change. Planning ahead can save some hassles! Then in Terminal 3 there are train ticket machines that take credit cards. Took the train to Central Station and were there in just a few minutes.

We visited the Glyptotek, took a canal boat tour, had a great outdoor lunch and enjoyed a lovely day in Copenhagen. Walked back to Central Station, took the train back to the airport (13 minutes). The Car Park 4 is just a short walk away from the train stop, and there were lots of free luggage carts available. Got our bags out of the storage locker and headed into our terminal. It was a great way to enjoy an extra day in Copenhagen without being tied to our luggage.

  5. On our Emerald Baltic cruise in May 2013, John Lawrence was on board as the port lecturer. He was fascinating. According to his website, he and Princess "were not able to come to terms" for this year, so he will not be on a Princess ship. But, Google "John Lawrence cruise director" for more information. He sells his DVD with detailed information about each port, geared to the cruise passenger. We bought that before the cruise and watched it several times. The website also says the DVD has been updated with new information for 2014. I imagine there will be regular port lectures by some guest speaker in John's absence.

There were also a couple of talks by other people who came on board to talk specifically about "shopping" opportunities--I remember one guy introduced as the "biggest" dealer in Russian lacquered boxes.

  6. I'll reply somewhat differently; we took the Princess excursion to Ebeltoft and enjoyed it thoroughly. It's an old town, and a vacation destination for Danes. When we returned to Aarhus, there was still plenty of time to see the Cathedral, walk around town and generally sight-see. If that is offered this year, give it another look.

  7. The paper tags work just fine; if concerned about durability, just wrap in clear packing tape after folding. Hotels always have staplers at the front desk if you are staying somewhere for the night pre-cruise. Otherwise, bring a cheap-o mini stapler from Walmart in your carry on bag, and just staple the tags on your bags when you pick them up at baggage claim.
