  1. I appreciate all the feedback. The rooms are within the proper range for a 17 year old - within 6 doors of the parent's room -  so I would hope they will let us have both. Our PVP didn't think it would be an issue. But if so, we'll cross that bridge on Saturday. Can't be mad about it either way - it is what it is! I'll let y'all know what happens.

  2. The kid is 17.... not a toddler. We did not cancel any guests. We kept the original parents on the booking and just swapped the kids. So the parent who is going will check in for one room and the 17 year old will check in for the other. The parent and kid not going will be no shows so that no changes in rates will occur. I assume the port fees and such will be refunded when they are actual no shows.

  3. Long story short - we have 2 rooms booked. Paid for by me - My name is registered in 1 room with a kid and my DH is registered in the other room with a kid. Now DH and kid on his reservation can't go and will be no shows as we are 10 days out and there is no covered reason for our insurance to kick in.  My question is - since I paid for both rooms and this is my spouse and kid, can I get the room key from guest services so that I can use the other room? TIA

  4. It took just about 2 weeks to get mine back. You can try and they may credit you after the cruise. They must have gotten pushback from all the denials. I did understand they needed to make up some money, but I did feel like if they were gonna deny everyone they should just suspend the benefit as a whole for a bit instead. I'm glad it's back!

Also, I always just email guestadmin@carnival.com and attach the stock statement.

Would I get my shareholder obc on Free Cruise, casino offer?  I haven't turned it in , I was thinking I would be turned down .

You might - I know some others have. Technically the rules state that they don't give the credit on discounted fares - but that's basically every fare. They all end up having a code when booked. Ours was a VIFP code, but we booked it 2 years ago and it wasn't ridiculously cheap like a casino rate. When I submitted my first request in December for our cruise this month, we were denied for having a discounted fare. I understood that they needed to make up money and let it go. But after seeing recent posts here about people with $30 casino fares getting the OBC recently, I decided to try again. I'm glad I did 🙂

  6. Just thought some people would want to know that I resubmitted my stock OBC request 2 weeks ago. I read on here that some people were getting theirs recently after many of us had been denied. I had originally been denied about 2 months ago. I resubmitted the request on Jan 24 and got an email this morning that the credit was posted to my account. So if you got a denial, you may want to try again.

  7. My 2/13 cruise is back in my cruise manager, but I have not received an email. The $200 OBC does not show and our Cheers that I purchased in April does not show up either. They moved us to equivalent rooms. We plan on cancelling since they are waiving the fee to do so. Even though the rate was a steal when I booked, I'd rather just take my money back at this point since it's so up in the air.

  8. We are booked on the Radiance for Feb. 2021. If they choose not to refurbish, do you think we will get our money back or at least get to apply it to another booking if they just want to sail it as the old ship? I'm not sure the contract covers that cause its a ton of pages - and let's be real - I have never read it in that much detail. I just don't want to sail on the old ship without the update.

  9. We booked for Feb. 2021 and I think it will be fine. I think they will just cut the cruises at the front end. I don't think it will affect the winter cruises. That being said, part of the cruise contract is that they can change ports, so I'm not sure you can argue your way out of cancelling without penalty. However, my guess is you could probably get some amount of flexibility.

We were also in the storm on the Breeze.  What a wild night.  Luckily we were in a cove balcony midship on deck 2.  The minute the captain announced rought weather ahead I made all the family take a bonine and wear sea bands.  I am grateful non of us were seasick.  My 14 yo son actually slept through the entire event.  My 16 yo daughter was scared but handled it fabulously.  Some guest were sleeping in the Ovation theater because they were so frightened.

We actually would like to cruise again despite the rough seas and it was our first cruise ever.  You can't get much worse, right?

Every cruise ship that was in Port Canaveral that morning experienced the rough seas regardless of the eastern or western itinerary. I heard third hand the port had 12 foot swells.  Not sure if the other ports were affected.  I have know some families that sailed out of Fort Lauderdale and Miami but have not talked to them yet.

I was also talking with people on the plane that vacationed in Orlando.  Friday was super windy and it rained intermittenly.  So no one had a perfect weather vacation.

Hope you are recovering.  I am still swaying a little and need to get my land legs back.

We loved our trip and thought the Breeze was fabulous ... I really just didn't understand the lack of communication about the storm. This is cruise number 8 for us, and our kiddos (11 and 14) were on their fourth cruise. I promise you, that level of rough seas is not the norm. I'm glad it's not keeping you from cruising again!

Thanks for that information, now at least I know how big of a storm we got hit with.  I looked out once and saw another ship not too far away, I assume that was you.

No, we never had ANY announcements about anything until we were docked, and that was just information about how disembarkation would proceed.  As far as that goes the crew did a good job of handling getting everyone off the ship, but it sure would have been nice to have more information during the storm..... something along the lines of "we expect this weather to last approximately 4 more hours".

That is exactly what we said! If only someone said - "Hey guys, this is gonna be 4 really rough hours, but we got this and everyone is gonna be fine" - I think a lot of people would have felt better. I did tell that to guest services when we were leaving the ship and the guy said they didn't want to wake people - um....I think 90% of the ship was not sleeping through that at 10 pm. I really am thankful for the crew keeping us safe - and they were posted at the the stairs to help people walk because it was so bad. They did a great job staying calm and helping the passengers.

We were next to you in Grand Turk and saw you behind us on Friday, so I am guessing we were together for much of the storm. I never looked out because I knew I would be scared. Other people did say that some of the swells were hitting the bridge at the height of the storm. It was for sure scary! One of the women next to our cabin was really freaking out. I'm not sure she will ever set foot on a boat again.

The Breeze is bigger than the Elation, so I'm not sure if that made it worse for you. I do know it was bad on our boat. I'm curious if any other cruise lines sailed through the storm or if they chose to divert. I thought Disney was supposed to port the same morning, but I didn't see it. I think I saw the NCL Breakaway on our way out.

  12. We were on the Breeze this week and were right next to you on our trip home. We also had a rough night heading back to the port. I believe it was 16 ft swells and around 70 mph winds. Did you all get any announcements on your ship?

On ours, we got one announcement from the captain around 5:30 pm saying we may be delayed due to a storm. He, nor any crew member, ever came back with an update. By 9pm, it was really rocky and we still knew nothing. By 10, our tv was flying back and forth on it's arm and we were listing quite a bit. There was a ton of shuttering and g-force as well with each wave that hit the boat. I really think that someone, anyone should have updated so that people weren't in the dark about the situation and could maybe feel a little less terrified.

  13. We were on this same sailing. It's winter break for several counties in Georgia as well. If you aren't sailing with kids, always avoid President's Day week.

I think it's odd that no one mentioned the rough ride on our last night. I am curious if other lines went through the storm, or just Carnival. I am thankful we made it back safely, but I am annoyed that there was next to no information provided. Besides a single announcement on Friday around 5:30 pm telling us there may be a delay in arriving home due to weather and swells, not another word was mentioned. From 9 pm till around 3 am, the boat was very rocky, 16 ft swells and 70 mph winds - I'm pretty sure I caught air at several points. I think an announcement of any kind would have helped those who were scared feel a bit better.

  14. We were in an aft wrap last year on the Dream, which is very similar to the Breeze. We booked on deck 9 however and regretted that choice. It was right under the aft pool and the scrapping of chairs woke us early every morning. If you are on deck 8, you shouldn't have that issue.

The room was smaller than a regular balcony. There was no room for a couch, hence why it was a 2 person room only.  It was really just the bed, a vanity and the bathroom. The balcony was great though. It was super huge and we enjoyed the privacy. All-in-all, we liked the room and would simply just not book the deck right under the pool again. I think it's worth trying at least once if the price is right.

  15. The only cabin we have not loved is an aft wrap we had on the Dream last year. It was floor 9, right under the aft pool. Every time a lounge chair was moved, it sounded like a metal death cry. And unfortunately, this happened most often early in the AM as the staff was setting up for the day. I will stick to a room sandwiched between other guest rooms from now on.

  16. We are on the Dream heading out on Feb. 17 and have been planning to park at the port. We will be coming in from a hotel in Slidell - so taking 10W to 90 Bus W. Our directions say to take Tchoupitoulas St. to Henderson St. to Port Orleans PL to get to the port parking. Will the construction impact this route? I'm not familiar with the area, so I'm not sure how to circumvent the road closures. TIA!

  17. I am not sure if this will help, but we recently booked a 4 person inside on an early saver for my kids. My DH and I are across the hall in a balcony room.

At the time of booking, we were considering letting them each bring a friend, but had yet to decided for sure. When I called Carnival to book, the rep said that if I left the name of passenger 3 and 4 as TBD, we could add or change it at anytime without penalty. So if our kids bring friends, we would simply need to have the names added by the final payment date.

The rep also said that if we decide not to bring a 3rd and 4th passenger, that the deposit I paid for the TBD kids would be applied to the balance of the first 2 passengers. I did get her PVP number and name and am hoping I don't get screwed in the end! But she assured me I would not lose deposits on TBD passengers.

  18. Sailing on the EPIC and staying in the Haven next month. Is there water available at the bar/concierge lounge or is it worth buying a water package?

Just got off the Epic yesterday. We were in the Haven and got water at the Haven bar all the time - as long as you don't want it from a bottle, it's always available and included. Our bulter even left a pitcher of it in our stateroom everyday.

  19. We are booked on our first Disney cruise over Thanksgiving of this year. The Epic sails on the same exact day on the same exact itinerary (except for the private island, Great Stirrup Cay vs Castaway Cay). NCL prices for similar accommodations (a standard balcony) are less than half, but with kids aged 5 and 8 at the time of sailing, we are going to bite the bullet and give Disney a shot.

We've read all the superlatives and listened to all the rave reviews from friends who have done Disney cruises. I'm hoping that Disney doesn't live up to the expectations because at these prices, I'd rather consider this Disney sailing a one time cruise rather than our new cruising normal.

I just got off the Epic yesterday and paid less than half for my Haven 2-bedroom room as my friends paid for their balcony suite on Disney's ship that was sailing right next to us. We went to the same ports and they were so annoyed when they found out what we paid for 2 bedrooms, a private pool and restaurant, priority everything and a butler. I have not been on DCL, but the Haven was amazing and my husband and our kids (8 and 11) loved it just as much. I would hands-down choose the Epic Haven 2-bedroom again over DCL. More privacy, amazing food and and the Haven staff are so attentive. Perhaps you really want they DCL experience - and I get that - but check out the Haven 2-bedrooms and the private pool and restaurant if you haven't already.

  20. What time did you get to Port Canaveral and what time were you actually on board? We are going on Epic 3/11!

We arrived at the port around 11:45 and were on board by 12. Haven guests are taken to the front of the line though. The regular line looked like it would be around 45 minutes to an hour. There was supposed to be a shuttle launch the morning of our embarkation and that caused a bit of a traffic issue they said - so I'm not sure if that added to the line length or not.

With the delay on our return on 2/25 due to fog, I imagine the embarkation process was long. We were one of the first off the ship and it was nearly 11:15 by the time we got to our shuttle to leave. The line for embarkation was already forming at that time, but they were not even starting the process or allowing this people inside.
